  • I, along with my entire family, am a loyal follower of ksdk. This being said, I feel obligated to inform you of the disappointment felt by our entire community in the coverage and presentation of Kyle Roberts's murder on the landing Saturday night. The media has been portraying his death as something that was unavoidable and that the landing is in fact a safe place.
Our community is one that sticks together. When something like this happens to one of our own everyone is affected, whether they knew him personally or not. The man you interviewed implied that this would've happened no matter where he was because that's what happens to people like this....if only he knew how wrong he is. Kyle was a wonderful person, the kind that would drop everything to help someone in need.
Kyle's death is not only a devastation to his friends and family but to our entire community. A night of celebration became a night of tragedy and for what? This incident is just another death to you and to St. Louis, but to us this is unimaginable. We do not witness murders in our community. A fight at our local bar, at most, results in a couple punches being thrown then apologies and embarrassment the following day...not cold blooded murder. We do not carry knives for our protection or for malice, because there is no need.
Kyle's death should be motivation to make your city a safer place. Do not protect the local businesses by making it seem like it was his fault. Whether there was a confrontation or not, it should never result in the loss of life. The police should be taking this much more seriously, not writing it off. A shooting Friday night, murder Saturday night...what's next? Who has to die before there is change? Let Kyle's death be the start of change, if not for our community then for the sake of yours.

    • Eric Hegger Dont expect much help from police. A few years ago I saw 1 guy getting jumped by 5 others at Martí gras in Solar with over a dozen cops just Watching.
Stl is not safe at all. The cops never did jump in, it took people from the crowd to save him while the cops watched.

I have worked in several bars in the styx east side and downtown for a few years during our off season. If you guys knew half of the stuff that got covered up by police and media, or "hushed" as one particular high ranking officer in a Illinois municipality liked to say, it would make your heads spin. This story hits home because it was one of our own. But this type of stuff happens on a weekly basis...

Moral of the story: Stay the h*ll out of the city!....Can you say "concealed carry" anyone? Spend your money closer to home!..:)
