WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Feb. 16) – Regional alignments have been announced for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour, officials announced today.

For the 12th straight season, the rugged road warriors of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour will thrill race fans in America's heartland with an aggressive 2009 campaign which features 61 events at 40 different venues in 10 different States.

The schedule is highlighted with return engagements to 31 facilities that hosted a USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour event last season and seven new venues encompassing some of the most exciting dirt ovals in America.

In addition, three facilities return to the line-up after at least a two-year hiatus from the schedule.

“We’ve got a solid campaign put together for 2010,” said USMTS President Todd Staley. “Piecing together 60-plus shows while trying to balance the regions is a monumental task, but we are fortunate to be working with some great track promoters that are flexible and work hard to make every show a success.”

The rugged road warriors of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour will kick off the 2010 season in the Falcon Wind Power Mo-Kan Region at the Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan., on Friday, March 12, followed by a date at the nearby Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., on Saturday, March 13.

The series returns to Humboldt on Friday, Aug. 13, and Caney on Saturday, Aug. 14, to kick off the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship.

The following weekend will see the touring titans tackling a tripleheader in the Sooner State.

The series makes its debut at the Creek County Speedway in Kellyville, Okla., on Thursday, March 18, then moves on to the Outlaw Motor Speedway near Muskogee on Friday.

This will be the first visit to the Outlaw Motor Speedway since a two-race weekend on May 8-9, 2003, that saw Jason Hughes and Tommy Myer walk away victorious.

The weekend winds up at the West Siloam Speedway in West Siloam Springs.
A powerful field of entries is expected as points will be awarded for both the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour and USMTS Southern Series at all three shows.

Two shows in the Show-Me State dot the month of April, with a couple of $2,000-to-win contests at the LA Raceway in La Monte on Friday, April 9, and Moberly's 24 Raceway Park on Saturday, April 10.

The final events for the Falcon Wind Power Mo-Kan Region include the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday, May 15, sandwiched between a pair of to-be-announced venues on May 14 and 16. These events will mark the earliest completion of a region since the USMTS began utilizing the regional format in 2006.

For the seventh straight year, USMTS officials had planned to launch the season with a doubleheader at the Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., on March 5-6, but due to record-setting snowfall and lingering bitter cold from the harsh winter, the 7th Annual Nebraska Spring Thaw has been pushed back to Friday and Saturday, March 26-27, and will serve as the first event of the Great Plains Region.

The month of May ends with a busy Memorial Day Weekend that finds the series on familiar ground with a $2,000-to-win stop at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on Wednesday, May 26, for the first of five straight nights of racing action.

On Thursday, May 27, it's on to the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa, followed by annual Memorial Day Weekend events at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, Minn., on Friday, May 28; Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., on Saturday, May 29; and the Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, Minn., on Sunday, May 30.

While the Oskaloosa and Allison events get the Central States Region going, the final three races of the weekend will be he first three in the Yeager Machine Upper Midwest Region.

The USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour returns to the popular Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, Minn., on Tuesday, June 15, for the first time since June 20, 2001—a race that Kelly Shryock won with a last-lap pass of Mike Chasteen.

The Fairmont event kicks off a whirlwind final half of June that will see nine shows in a span of eleven days.

On Wednesday, June 16, the series invades the Buena Vista Raceway in Alta, Iowa, followed by the Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on Thursday, June 17, and the Murray County Speedway in Slayton, Minn., on Friday, June 18.
Tuesday, June 22, is set for the Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Wednesday, June 23, will find the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour back at the I-35 Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, for an encore of last year's blockbuster event at Joe Ringsdorf’s speedplant on the North Iowa Fairgrounds.

The Redwood Speedway in Redwood Falls, Minn., plays host to the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour for the first time on Thursday, June 24, while Bob Timm’s Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., hosts its first of two shows during the 2010 campaign on Friday, June 25.

Drivers, fans and officials alike will get their usual summer vacation during the first half of July, with the engines firing back up on Wednesday, July 14, for the annual Dodge County Fair in Kasson, Minn.

On Thursday, July 15, the series heads north to the North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minn., then on Friday and Saturday, July 16-17, the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour invades the famed Elko Speedway in Elko, Minn., as the legendary asphalt track is transformed into a dirt gridiron for the 2nd Annual Dirt Nationals.

A swing of five shows in the Dakotas wraps up the month of July, beginning on Tuesday, July 27, at the Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, S.D.
The State of North Dakota welcomes back the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour for the first time in three years with the first-ever visit to the Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo, N.D., on Wednesday, July 28.
From there, it's on to the Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D., on Thursday, July 29, for what has become an annual sell-out and one of the most popular events on the schedule.

The curtain closes on the Tour of the Dakotas with another inaugural event on Friday, July 30, at the Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D., and a return to the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, N.D., after a three-year hiatus on Saturday, July 31.

On Sunday, Aug. 1, the series slips back into the Land of 10,000 Lakes with its annual trek to the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn., for the sixth straight $2,000-to-win event of the week.

On Tuesday, Aug. 3, the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour kicks off the annual Kossuth County Fair with a return to the Algona Raceway in Algona, Iowa, for the first time since Johnny Bone Jr. won a thriller there on Aug. 5, 2004.

Originally slated for July 13, the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, Iowa, will now welcome the USMTS dirt merchants on Wednesday, Aug. 4.
The Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn., is back on the calendar after a four-year absence. The USMTS Modifieds will take to the half-mile oval on Thursday, Aug. 5, for the final event in the Yeager Machine Upper Midwest Region.

The Great Plains Region will crown a champion and advance another batch of competitors into the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship with the final race in the region on Friday, Aug. 6, at the Murray County Speedway in Slayton, Minn.

The third straight regional curtain-closer happens on Saturday, Aug. 7, with the final event in the Central States Region at an excited venue to be announced soon.

The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship begins on Friday, Aug. 13, at the Humboldt Speedway with the first of 20 scheduled events that will culminate with the crowning of the 2010 USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Champion.

The USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour will return to the Deer Creek Speedway for the 12th Annual Fall Jamboree on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-25. The standing-room-only show has become one of the most popular races on the calendars of Modified fans, as well as one of the most lucrative for the drivers.

The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship is comprised of the final 16-20 races of the season. The USMTS points system will be used at all regional events, with the top-10 in the final standings for each of the four regions earning a spot in ‘The Hunt.’ In addition, any driver who has perfect attendance in a region will also be qualified. After the completion of the regional schedule and base points have been established, the USMTS points system will be used at the remaining events for the drivers in ‘The Hunt’ to determine the 2010 USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Champion.

For the fans, the ‘The Hunt’ serves as a “playoff” for the ultimate prize in dirt Modified racing. While handicapping gives a slight advantage to the drivers that compete on the entire USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour circuit, any of the qualified drivers have a legitimate shot at capturing the crown.

Past USMTS National Champions include Shryock (1999-2006, 2009), Jason Krohn (2007) and Tim Donlinger (2008).
