Remembering Bob Memmer May he R.I.P. 07/08/04

Just wanted to take a moment as I always try to do on the anniversary of Mr. Memmr's passing to remember him and his contributions to the sport that we all love so much!

Bob passed away on July 08, 2004 and as hard as it is to believe has been gone for 9 years!

I assure you, he has watched over every lap that has been competed since his passing, and I'm sure is keeping point statistics for the races being conducted at the greatest race track of all in heaven above!

Rest in Peace Bob, and until we meet again my friend, THANK YOU for all you did for the sport of late model and modified racing!

Thanks Terry for doing this every year. Bob still needs to be remembered for what he brought to Midwest racing.

I still have a lot of clear memories of seeing Bob pulling into dirt tracks in his old van with that dog riding next to him back in the mid '80s. He had a good sense of humor, but he was very serious about trying to improve dirt track racing, and the guy worked his butt off -- especially back in UMP's earliest days.

He caught a lot of grief when he started up, and he had a lot of critics, but it's hard to argue his huge contribution to the sport. It's interesting to wonder where dirt late model racing would be today if he hadn't stepped in and pushed for changes when he did.

He's probably rolling over in his grave yelling WTF at the top of his lungs! Longing for the days when summer nat's was as it was meant to be!
