Reputation Points (what are they, how to use them)

This thing is already gotten interesting! :cool: Seems like kind of a neat idea, a good way to see how people take you when you speak. Probably shouldn't know who voted how. I wouldn't want to be kicked off any board for expressing my opinion, I thought thats what they're for. Seems to me that this is going to be a long winter and it will be something to do. Already got several replies :D
 
you do have the option of having your reputation not viewable by others.

it is in user cp, options.
 
Something must be wrong with my user cp, I don't see any reputation points. All I can see is subscribed threads and the edit menu on the left. I did find the viewable options but thats all I can find
 
Well Todd...you always get my vote..lol. You are correct and have the right to say whats on your mind. Im not a big fan of the popularity thing..which..thats what this is..essentially...but if thats what this site wants to goto...guessing thats what we have to put up with. Just hope everyone doesnt abuse it and gets stupid with the negative stuff. Be fair everyone and dont let it get to a fighting thing. p.s. Ole G.W. doesnt aprove of my post because its close to being truthful..more than his wmd's comments.
 
Thanks pitdrifter, I guess the reason I couldn't see any thing is cause I didn't have any thing to see.
I think this could be interesting. While I do agree that some could abuse it and run someone's points down just cause they don't like them or dissagree with what they have said, it can also be a measure of your assertiveness. Its one thing to tell it like it is, but another to tell it in such a manner as to make whomever think about what you have said and consider your point.
Can't always be a nice guy but it never hurts to try. Its like the difference between yelling and speaking softly, if you yell at someone they're not going to hear the message, only your emotion.
As I said its going to be a long winter and this should provide a little entertainment that is still centered on what we all love to do. Punch it and turn left!!

All that means is about 10 of us are screwed..... LOL!
