CARTERSVILLE, GA – The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring race at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS that has been rescheduled for this Saturday is open to new entries, as the event will be run from the beginning. The 40-lap $3,000-to-win event was rained out on November 24 before hot laps had taken place.

The race already has 53 entrants that have drawn for a qualifying spot. Since no competitive events have been run, StormPay.com DLMS officials will accept new entrants for the race this Saturday, and they will be added to the tail of the qualifying order. All entrants for the race this Saturday must check in with Registration and go through Tech.

The race is the final point race of the 2007 StormPay.com DLMS National Tour and the defending StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Champion David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN will try and hold off Jay Blair of Angie, LA to earn his second straight title. Gentry leads Blair by 34 points going into this weekend’s event.

Gentry has to finish 16th or better if Blair wins the race in order to win the $20,000 championship. Blair has won two of the three StormPay.com DLMS events held at Columbus Speedway this season and finished third in the other event.

Seven of the top ten StormPay.com DLMS National Tour points positions will be decided on Saturday at Columbus Speedway. Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, GA is currently third, but still has a chance to finish second in the points chase. Jeff Fields of Aragon, GA and Chris Tays of Corinth, MS will battle for the fifth spot, and Robert Stutts of Murfreesboro, TN has an opportunity to move up to the seventh spot.

In addition to the StormPay.com DLMS National Touring event, a pair of 20-lap special events will be run on Saturday at Columbus Speedway with the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Race of Regions and Race of Champions.

The Race of Regions will feature the top six finishers in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West, East and South Regions. The Race of Champions will feature the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champions from the sanctioned tracks from across the country.

Steve Godsey of Bedford, IN will be a busy driver looking to sweep the 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Fall Nationals for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series competitors portion of the 7th Annual Possum Town Grand Prix at Columbus Speedway. Godsey won the 40-lap Crate Racin’ USA Fall Nationals Invitational Race at Columbus Speedway last Friday night.

Godsey said the $2,000 top prize he earned will come in handy, as he learned he is going to be a new Daddy next June. Godsey, who finished third in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region and is the 2007 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Indiana State Champion, will compete in both the Race of Regions, and the Race of Champions.

StormPay.com WRS East Region Champion and Talladega Short Track Champion Logan Yates of Delta, AL will be in both the Race of Regions and Race of Champions, and the two-time StormPay.com WRS West Region Champion and Whynot Motorsports Park Track Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is looking to tag the tail of both races.

Keeton missed last Friday night’s events, including the qualifying heat races for the Race of Regions and the Race of Champions due to not being released by his doctor to compete after back surgery. Keeton said he expects to be able to compete this Saturday at Columbus Speedway.

The StormPay.com WRS South Region Champion and Track Champion at Blackman Motor Speedway and Southern Raceway Frank Wilson of Milton, FL will compete in the Race of Regions and the Race of Champions.

Two other drivers eligible for both the Race of Regions and the Race of Champions are Columbus Speedway StormPay.com WRS Track Champion Jamie Pickard of Columbus, MS, and Penton Raceway Track Champion Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA. StormPay.com WRS East Region Runner-Up Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL missed Friday’s show, but will tag of tail of the Race of Regions this Saturday night at Columbus Speedway.

Columbus Speedway will host an open practice session this Friday night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The weather forecast for this Saturday at Columbus Speedway looks good with partly cloudy skies, a high temperature of 64 degrees, and only a 10 percent chance of rain. On Saturday, the pit gate at Columbus Speedway will open at 10 a.m., and the drivers meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m.

For the StormPay.com DLMS competitors, the Race of Regions and the Race of Champions for StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series competitors will be run during the Saturday afternoon session that is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The StormPay.com DLMS National Tour will compete in a complete show during the evening session with Qualifying, B-Main Races, and a 40-lap $3,000-to-win 40-lap Main Event.
