(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) The Rick Eckert Racing team recently captured the Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speedweek Championship last Friday night, June 11 after the series finale at the Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania! This year's version of the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek featured seven races at seven different venues in the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia from June 5-11. In all, Rick Eckert amassed one victory, four Top Five finishes, and five Top Ten performances in the five events that escaped the wrath of Mother Nature.

Rick's trip to victory lane came on Monday, June 7 at the Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Virginia. "Scrub" ran second in his heat race and later redrew the pole position for the A-Main. The York, Pennsylvania native then led flag-to-flag in the feature event to pick up the $5,000 top prize over Josh Richards, Jason Covert, Jimmy Mars, and Keith Jackson. Following the completion of the series, Rick received $4,000 in point fund money and an additional $1,000 from long-time sponsor Sunoco Race Fuels for winning the championship.

Below is a quick recap of Rick's feature finishes from Appalachian Mountain Speedweek. You can read a race-by-race summary online at www.rickeckertracing.com.

June 5 | Hagerstown (MD) Speedway, AMS | $5,000 to win (Rained Out)
June 6 | Selinsgrove (PA) Speedway, AMS | $5,000 to win (Finished 2nd)
June 7 | Winchester (VA) Speedway, AMS | $5,000 to win (Finished 1st)
June 8 | Williams Grove (PA) Speedway, AMS | $5,000 to win (Finished 6th)
June 9 | Lincoln (PA) Speedway, AMS | $5,000 to win (Rained Out)

June 11 | Bedford (PA) Speedway, AMS | $5,000 to win (Finished 5th)

"Everything went well during the Speedweek except for a couple of rainouts," quoted Eckert last night. "We were able to get a win at Winchester and pretty much run in the top five every night. I hated to miss out on the Dream at Eldora, but it was a tough decision that I had to make. Financially, I would have had to run first or second at Eldora to make more money than I did last week right around home. Plus, we got to spend an extra day or so at the shop after Bedford to start gearing up for the big World of Outlaws swing that we have in front of us."

The #24 team will continue to be ultra-busy over the next week-and-a-half, as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction eight events in New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada from June 15-26. The huge WOOLMS swing will kick-off tonight, June 15 at the Can-Am (NY) Motorsports Park and will conclude on June 26 with the annual running of the $30,000 to win 'Firecracker 100' at the Lernerville (PA) Speedway. You can watch Rick sling dirt at the following racetracks in the upcoming days:
