Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (09/02/14) – Ricky Weiss enjoyed a great Labor Day weekend of racing in his #7 Derrick's Sandblasting/Bloomquist/ Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model as he bagged two more wins to push his 2014 win tally to sixteen.

Ricky Weiss competed in the inaugural CanAm Late Model Challenge on Thursday night at Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Canada). Weiss finished second behind Steve Anderson in WISSOTA Late Model Heat #1, earning him the eighth starting position for the finale. In the feature, Weiss progressively worked his way forward, finding himself in the top five with ten laps remaining. Following a caution the field got set for a single file restart with Cole Schill leading the pack. Schill held the top spot for one lap until Weiss blasted by on the high-side exiting turn two. Kevin Sexton followed Weiss around the top side to move into second. As the laps wore down, Sexton stayed close, but it wasn't enough to bid for the lead. Weiss took the checkered flag ahead of Sexton, Brad Seng, Cole Schill, and Steve Anderson. Full results from the event are available at www.VictoryLane.Mb.Ca .

Friday night took the team to I-94 Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minnesota) for a WISSOTA Late Model Weekly Racing Series program. A third place finish in his heat race earned Ricky the sixth starting spot on the feature grid. When the race went green, Weiss slowed with a flat tire in turn one just as the first lap was scored. He was able to rejoin the tail of the field, and recovered to a second place finish behind race winner, Cody Skytland. Brady Johanneck, Cole Schill, and Eric Breeschoten rounded out the top five finishers. Complete results are available at www.I94Speedways.com .

Ricky entered the opening round of a doubleheader at Viking Speedway (Alexandria, Minnesota) on Saturday night. The $1,600-to-win program, which was sanctioned by the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA), drew a field of twenty-seven competitors to the oval. Weiss charged from seventh to win his preliminary heat race, locking him into the second starting spot for the main event. Weiss and fellow front-row starter, Jeff Wildung, waged a fierce battle for the top spot early in the race until Wildung suffered mechanical issues while running second on lap seventeen. From there, Weiss avoided any serious challenges for the lead, cruising to his second victory of the weekend over Eric Breeschoten, Zach Johnson, Rick Schroeder, and Don Shaw.

The weekend came to a close on Saturday night with Round #2 of the Labor Day weekend special at Viking Speedway. Another $1,600 top prize was posted for competitors, which saw twenty-one entries return for battle. Weiss finished second in his heat race after starting fifth, positioning him starting sixth in the finale. In the feature Ricky advanced from his third-row starting spot to finish second behind race winner, Jeff Wildung. Zach Johnson, Mike Balcaen, and Brad Parson rounded out the top five finishers.
