Inside Line Promotions - ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 4, 2018) - Travis Rilat wrapped up the 9th annual LOS 360 Sprint Car Nationals with a top-10 result last Sunday at Lake Ozark Speedway.

The BDS Motorsports driver moved forward every time he was on the track during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com doubleheader except in his heat race on Saturday when he finished where he started - fifth.

"Gaining a spot or two in that heat race is crucial when you're in that position," he said. "The team kept working hard and we made progress all night long."

Rilat advanced from 10th to seventh place in a qualifier before he won a B Main after starting on the outside of the front row. That transferred him into the 18th starting position for the 25-lap main event.

"You have to set the car up a bit different starting deep in the field rather than how we had it in the B Main when we're starting on the front row," he said. "Clean air is huge in sprint car racing so starting up front makes it to where you don't have to deal with much dirty air. Starting in the back like we did in the A Main doesn't afford you that so you have to be able to maneuver in dirty air."

Rilat gained a handful of positions to net a 13th-place result.

The improvement continued on Sunday during the event finale. Rilat powered from fourth to second place during a heat race before picking up a pair of positions to finish third in a qualifier. That ranked him 10th out of more than 50 drivers entering the 41-lap main event.

"We got a good start and moved forward a spot or two right away and then got another spot or two in traffic," he said. "It was great to be able to move forward almost every time we were on the track all weekend. That's what we've been working toward.

"We had some issues the past few weeks with motor problems and we've got those worked out. We've been chasing our tails. Everything ran really well last weekend. We're past that so now we can concentrate on getting the car setup right. Without the motor running right it's hard to get the car right."

Rilat will be off the next couple of weekends before competing Sept. 20-22 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., during the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
