Thoughts and prayers to Bryan Clauson's family and friends. Bryan passed away from his injuries suffered in the midget crash Saturday night at Belleville, KS.
I met Lauren last year... could not believe how kind and personable she was to us. Don't think I've ever felt this way around racing. Just sick at my stomach. So terribly sorry for Lauren and all of Bryan's family and closest friends.
"Our Bryan fought to the end with the same desire that he demonstrated behind the wheel of all the various race cars he would park in victory lane. However, we were more proud of our Bryan that took a moment to make a young fan's day, or demonstrated his uncommon kindness and appreciation toward his friends, family and fans," Clauson's family announced in a statement.
A funeral service will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at a later date.
"It's one of the darkest days in USAC Racing history," said USAC president Kevin Miller.
Clauson is survived by his parents, Tim and Diana, sister Taylor and his fiancé, Lauren Stewart.
The family asks that In lieu of flowers, or to make a donation, people may direct their contributions to the USAC Benevolent Fund website at http://usacbf.org/cash-donation/ or checks should be made out to the USAC Benevolent Foundation in the name of Bryan Clauson. The address is 124 E Northfield Drive, Suite F #129, Brownsburg, IN 46112.
It is truly a sad day in the racing community with this news had the honor of meeting him a few years ago good dude let's all keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers. Rip Brian
On Wednesday it was revealed on the Bryan Clauson Racing Facebook page that Clauson was an organ donor, a fact that the family only discovered when they were by his hospital bed.
Through being an organ donor, Clauson was able to help save the lives of five others in the hospital.
In the family's statement, they also took the time to thank the Nebraska Organ Recovery team for making “the entire process very comforting” and thanked all of Bryan’s fans and followers for their “thoughts, prayers and friendship.”
