Newman died Friday after a long battle with cancer at his farmhouse near Westport, CT.

i remember meeting him as a kid at IMS in '69. they were doing work on the movie 'winning'. a movie about indy cars with joanne woodward and robert redford. also had richard thomas in it (john boy from the waltons). alot of people just do not know just how good of a racecar driver he really was. he was not out there for the pictures; he was getting the job done. still owned an indy car to this day. RIP, racer. sorry... it was robert wagner, not redford that starred in the movie. got my 'roberts' mixed up. LOL!

Paul was a great racer with championships and records to his credit besides those as a car owner. My condolences to his family......and the world. He was an incredible human being. With St. Louis born A.E. Hotchner they created Newman's Own which has donated over $200 million to charity since 1982.

Paul also raced at Mid-America Raceway in Wentzville in sports car races.

Wonderful man! I had the pleasure of working with him at the 24 hour race at Daytona. Me and Scott Kuhn had a blast. He was either 79 or 80 then and loved to drive a race car. He acted like "just one of the guys". RIP Paul "cool hand luke" Newman
