Rubbered up at I-55

moonflow

BIRKY!!!
Freight train feature at Pevely in the lates. You could literally smell the rubber.

I saw some great racing tonight.... Happy for a first night... clouds hovering over us not knowing if rain ... Track was nice and smooth nice job track prep ! Guess some of us will never be happy - By the way way to go RAT !!!!!

yeah ! that was the only race i got to see, the rest of the night i had so much dust in my eyes i couldn't see anything.............

What are ya going to a prom? Its a dirt track for gods sake. What do you wear a tux to the races? By the way where I sat there wasn't much dust. I sat on the front straight away.

some people are never happy, be content with what ya got it could be a lot worse if you know what I mean. like exracer said its a DIRT TRACK! if it was that bad try sitting somewhere else.

I guess you guys didn't notice the wind blowing about 30 mph all night... lol.. I-55 has seats almost all the way around it, move to where the wind isn't blowing in your face!!

I thought the track was awesome last night. Good racing and smooth. Id much rather deal with a little dust than flying mud i didnt even notice much dust last night. Good job I-55 make the track like that every night!

I tried four different places, nothing helped !!!!!!
Don't get me wrong, i-55 to me is the best track around.
I paid to watch races, so i really would like to be able to see them.

The sportsman and modified races were excellent. Don't get me wrong. But they don't overpower the track like the late models do. The lates laid down a stripe of rubber about 5 laps in, and that was it for passing. Gotta give Mark Voigt credit though. He tried everything outside of spinning out the person in front of him.

For what it is worth, Ray said he intentionally put less water on the track this past week because the track had some "soft spots" in it still, especially in turns 1 and 2. He was worried about it digging out and getting rough.

With the NDRL event this coming week, he didn't want to have to be trying to fix big holes in the track and have a greater chance of a rough track for this week.

By no means am I really bashing the track, Ray or anyone else. Guess I was just venting some disappointment on a bummer of a late model feature on opening night. The all day sun and wind didn't help things. I noticed the track looked dry when they were packing it when I walked in.
