Rusty Wallace in HOF?

I could care less either way but I think winning a championship is a big deal and would probably be enough to vote for him in my opinion. And I'm not a rusty fan at all.

It just wasn't his time yet. One day down the road sure. But not so soon. Kind of discredits the idea of the HOF if you ask me.

I don't think you guys understand the 55 wins the num of top 5's and top 10's and how many times in his career that he finished in the top 10 in pts. Very well deserving if he wasn't he wouldn't have went in plain and simple!!!!

I understand that there are drivers still driving that will destroy those numbers, but they can't get in because why? HOF is still young. All that I am saying is that 5-10 years when the HOF is watered down, Rusty won't be at the top of the heap. Congrats Rusty! Why Mark Martin? How about 5 runner up spots, not to mention Nationwide(Busch whatever you want to call them) accomplishments, and he is an all around better, classier, spokesman for the sport! HOF is too young to put so many people in so fast!

personally i think a lot of people who got the sport going and pushed it to where its at today should be in before any one else, including some that are in there now.

He had some good stats but i think he is getting in too early. Lots of guys more deserving to get in there that are retired. Plus he was not a fan favorite. He has fans yes......but a fan favorite....he was not. Not doggin him.....just putting facts out there.Mark is a fan favorite........Kenny Wallace is a fan favorite just for examples. They went to the Richard Petty School of fan appreciation classes. Go to a nascar race...chase him down and see if he will do an autograph. Darrell Waltrip will. Bill Elliot will. Jimmie Johnson will. Jeff Gordon will. Rusty has kind of forgotten where he came from and to be honest.....when he did race he wasnt that fan freindly either. But he has good stats.......just a general opinion is he got in there too early and i have to agree.

No im saying this shows that fans mean nothing to nascar. Nascar means everything to Nascar. They get what they want and when they want it. There were plenty of retired people....some who passed away that clearly deserve to be there way before Rusty did. Heck........even Darrell. But they work as commentators now. Promoting Nascars sport. So kissing the hand that feeds them a little??Maybe. Im just saying to go there it should be normal people who vote them in. Heck.......let short track racers across the country make those decisions. Not ones appointed for or who work for Nascar. Just my opinion....probably a 50-50 deal as far as people who agree or disagree.

Kind of what im saying. And i agree......good post. There are ones who drove and helped the sport who are passed away or long retired who deserve to go in there way before some who are currently in there........or going to be. I do like the Wood Brothers being in there.........now those boys really helped the sport to where it is today!

Its kind of like the WWE electing Edge into their Hall of Fame. Just because he had a career ending injury and cannot wrestle anymore.....he got in. There are sooooooooo many wrestlers who paid their dues(and lives) for the business who deserve to be there now. Not whenever. But as in this case......general opinion means nothing. Its who the company wants in now.

Its nothing against edge either.........big fan of his. But just their are alot of wrestlers who put everything on the line....just like he did but are long gone and their names need to be up their representing the business as well. Really.....its too bad they only take so many at a time.

Nascar does what Nascar wants Rusty got nominated not his fault Im glad to see anybody from THE MIDWEST make something of themselves in the sport of racing Real racers are NOT from the SOUTH!!! As far as the nomination goes KUDOS to a St Louis native And to the Dixon Fan same **** goes to the Latemodel Hall of Fame Why Dixon get in before Kevin Gundaker When most of Dixons over 500 victories came in a MODIFIED!!! But kudos for both of them because then again they are hometown boys!!!!

There are only 12 drivers with 50 wins at NASCAR's top level series. There are only 35 drivers with 20 wins. All of these drivers will probably be in the HOF someday.

Rusty was the only driver with 50 wins, not including two active drivers, not in the Hall of Fame. There are only three drivers not on the following list that are in the HOF; they are Richie Evans who is a nine time NASCAR modified champion, Buck Baker with 46 wins, Cotton Owens who is far more famous an owner than driver, and Herb Thomas with 48 wins. Baker, Owens, and Thomas are all joining Rusty in the class of 2013.

As you can see from the list, they are basically going down the win total list.
