Safety in racing these days

Well after the article i just read it's sad to see such a young kids lose his life doing what he loved. As we all know i get around tracks and visit a lot of garages.the stuff i see makes me wonder if all the attention is just on cheating and not safety.i seen several pro4 that look like death traps and wonder how this kind of stuff is allowed.i know the drivers and teams make the choice but where does the track come in to the picture to make sure it's good?Dean that's building the pro4 cars has the nicest and safest looking cars i've ever seen in this class. Don't get me wrong i know there is good ones out there but a lot are not very safe. I seen lm,mods, bmods and so on that need done away with. Maybe they should be like seat belts and have a stamp lol. Jmo and i'm sure there are several of you who think the same thing about cars your racing against and just watching.

This is the exact reason I had Brian Worley build my car this year. Focus is on safety first and then trying to go fast. Brian walked me around the car once it was finished to show my why he did this and that....it was all focused on keeping the driver safe.

That is a terrible story regarding the 12 yr old. I hope everyone has a great and safe holiday racing weekend. Please take a minute to remember the meaning of Memorial day!

There has to start to be more done. We have the go fast mentality, and a lot of parents forget everything else. My familiy being a fan first might have helped me out. I watched Jim Dunn die in a firery crash at Paducah. Cause of that i will never own or race a car without a fire system.. The reasons could go on with my neck restraint, seat and thicker metal in my drivers compartment. The go fast now mentality needs to change to, BE SAFE NOW, GO FAST LONGER... I know its tough and money is tight but we need to start racing safer!!

Safety is something everybody is afraid to touch it seems. Racing as much as both of you do I'm sure both u guys have seen cars that make you wonder lol.I'm sure both you guys have lined up beside someone and though oh my lol. I hate to see it take a super star from dirt racing before they say well we better look at driver safety more... JMO

The IMPRESSIVE RACE CARS are some of the toughest cars around know from past experience !!!!!!! You get what you pay for !!!!!

Yes your right dirtgirl... But some of these guys just want to race and there just putting anything together to run. I know with have a brand new car setting in the shed it cost out the *** to do it right and safe. Some guys don't have or want to spend the kind of money to make it as safe as they can JMO

dirtboy I will be at Tri City tonight providing we aquire a drive shaft ! I think it is time you met your match :)

Well you will find me right by the playground and if you have fishing gear on I'm in trouble I take it lol... If I can I will by you a mix drink cause I hear you like em lol.

Well after watching the video jimmy d posted of the mod it's scary to think what can happen to you guys as drivers. Looks like more needs to be done in the driver area in theses cars. Nascar really stepped up in this area and so should everybody else jmo.
