ROSSBURG, OH (4-8-06) – Night #2 of the first co-sanctioned weekend with the World of Outlaws looked a lot like the preliminary night. Once again, it was a veritable “Who’s who?” in the world of sprint car racing. All the top contenders from the World of Outlaws, the National Sprint Tour, and the All Star Circuit of Champions were on hand to do battle, but it was the guy not aligned with any sanctioning body that came out on top once again.

Sammy Swindell completed the sweep on the weekend by dominating from his front row starting position. By lap three he had begun to catch the back of the field. He had the right rear up on the outside wall indicating that his years of experience and countless laps at the famed half mile showed him the fastest way around the race track. “I think a lot of guys get intimidated by running up close to the wall but I’ve got a lot of laps in here and I’m more comfortable running right up next to the wall than being away from it. I figure if something breaks then I won’t hit it very hard. I’d rather be right up next to it rather than be down a ways. Definitely if it’s fast, I’ll be the first one up there,” said Swindell.

Tim Kaeding came home 2nd and could not get through lapped traffic to make a challenge for the lead. Danny Lasoski finished 3rd and stated, “Any time that we can come out of Eldora and roll this Dennis Roth Motorsports Eagle into the trailer, it’s a pretty good weekend. To run good here, you have to run like Sammy Swindell did. You have got to be able to attack the wall and just run it, run it, run it. That’s what he did. They had the best car all weekend and they did the best job. He did the best job driving so my hat’s off to him.”

The weather was cold and windy and the Eldora Speedway track personnel did a fantastic job of keeping the show moving in order to get the fans on the road early and out of the frigid air.

The All Stars managed to correct most of the motor issues that plagued them on Friday night except for Rookie of the Year contender James Mosher who was unable to make repairs in time for qualifying. Another Rookie contender, Brandon Martin, had mechanical problems again after his heat race and was not able to start the B-main.

The fierce competition made qualifying well a top priority. Not making the inversion at the high-speed half mile when up against some of the toughest competitors in the country creates an almost insurmountable task of making the transfer out of your heat race to the A-main.

With Swindell, Lasoski, Schatz, and Kaeding already locked in to run the main event on Saturday, only the Top 4 from each heat could transfer to the A-main. Everyone else had the daunting task of trying to transfer out of the B-main for those final 4 spots. Terry McCarl, Jason Solwold, Stevie Smith, and Rob Chaney would take those positions and move on to the main event. Greg Wilson narrowly missed the transfer from his heat race and from the B-main on a super-fast track that didn’t see a whole lot of passing. Brock Mayes and Butch Schroeder transferred to the A-main, but Brock dropped out early with problems.

The All Star points have been shaken up after the first weekend of racing in Ohio since the Florida Speedweek events back in February. Jason Solwold still leads as he has run all of the All Star points races so far, but being a member of another organization will have him running elsewhere when the All Stars travel to Attica Raceway Park next weekend for the Coors Light Spring Nationals. The 2006 season points chase is still wide open.
