Schrader/Blaney compete with M.A.R.S. at Memphis Motorsports Park
Friday, May 9

BATESVILLE AR. Winston Cup Veteran Ken Schrader annually pays a visit to the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series. Once again, Schrader will drop in on the series, this time on Friday May 9 at the Memphis Motorsports Park, and he won't be by himself.

Dave Blaney of Sharon, Pennsylvania, driver of the Jasper Motorsports Ford Taurus will accompany Schrader to the tight 1/4 mile gumbo dirt oval that sits right behind the main grandstand of the 3/4 mile asphalt track that hosts NASCAR Busch Series events.

Blaney is no stranger to dirt, but is not use to having fenders on his cars. Blaney was the World of Outlaws champion in 1995, and won the prestigous Amaco Knoxville Nationals in 1997. Blaney still owns his Sprint Car team that his younger brother Dale drives.

On May 9, Blaney will trade in his aluminum wings for a 2300 pound Rocket Dirt Late Model prepaired by Larry Shaw, and usually driven by Dale McDowell. Schrader, from St. Louis, Missouri, will have his Federated Auto Parts Rayburn #99 at the track, as both will compete as well as meet and greet the fans.

Sort of ironic that the deal in Memphis is drawing as many full time Cup drivers as the Busch race at Gateway the next day is. I thought one of the main reasons to switch the Busch date at Gateway was to hopefully attract more Cup drivers.
