(Lebanon, MO - July 31, 2004) - Area racer, Brian Schutt, starting from the outside of the front row, led all 25 laps in the late model division to take his first win at Lebanon, Missouri's I-44 Speedway Saturday evening.

Under a full Ozarks moon, Schutt and Dave Ware battled for the lead with Schutt taking the high side and Ware the low groove. A spin by Ware in turn two on lap four brought out the only caution of the event and bunched-up the field. That left Schutt and the 15T car of David Turner to battle for the lead. Schutt, however, kept out in front while Darrell Mooneyham was on the move to battle Turner for second. Both were "men on a mission" chasing Schutt. Lap traffic started to play a part in the evening by lap 10, with Shane Essary moving into the third position. By lap 19, Schutt was weaving through lap traffic and Essary moving into the second slot. The checkered flag fell with an excited Schutt taking the win, followed by Shane Essary, Darrell Mooneyham, David Turner and T.J. Kuykendall rounding out the top five.
>
> The modified division found Eric Hudson taking the lead on lap one, but had to battle the field the entire evening. A caution on lap four came as the result of a spin by Dan Wohnoutka. The lap five restart saw Don Luna, in his 31M machine, going wide and losing his second spot to Steve Picon in the 00. Eric Maggard and Rex Merritt found themselves tangled together on the frontstretch on lap 10. Maggard soldiered on, but Merritt lost a tire. As the 25 ride was towed, Merritt, knowing he was finished for the evening, took the long walk back to the garage area. On the restart, Hudson went high in turns three and four, losing the lead, but the red flag came out for a spin by Albert Glore, which allowed Hudson to return to his lead position. A spin by Don Luna on lap 14 brought the field together for a one-lap shootout. With Hudson going high and Steve Picon going low, they finished one-two in the 15-lap event. Jason Meadors, Dan Wohnoutka and Don Coble completed the top-five.

> The factory stock division went green, white, checkered for the 15-car field. Mike Murzynski led the field to the green, but Tim Brown, who has been so dominant this season, took the lead on the first lap, charging from his eighth starting position. Brown encountered lap traffic by lap six and went on to win, followed by Michael Maggard, Steve Price, Jim Reaves and Hoby Johnson.
>
> Kenny Wallender brought the super stock division to the green with nearly four-wide action early in the going. Jason Otto, in his number 8 machine, took the lead on lap three with Scotty Allen charging through the field and moving to second by lap five. The following lap saw Allen take charge. A caution on lap 14 for debris provided excitement for the one-lap shootout to the finish. Allen held off the charging Larry Prewitt and Josh Woody. Rick Brown and Jason Otto rounded out the top five.
>
> The bomber division saw 17 cars take the green flag. But with several cars vying for the same piece of real estate on lap one, an original restart ensued. Robert White took the lead and on lap three, the caution fell for the mount of Jeff Brown. On the restart, White continued up front while a battled was waged for second amount Derrick Peterson, David Hendrix and K.C. Prettyman. White went on to win with Prettyman, Hendrix, Peterson finishing two through four. Justin Faust rounded out the top five.
>
> The pro-4 cars saw a green, white, checkered event with Ken Jones starting from the pole and never relinquished that spot. Lonnie Mullbauer was second, followed by Jeff White, John Ryan and Mike Thompson.
>
> Saturday night, August 7 will bring another night of racing action at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:30. A reminder that the MARS stars and cars will see action at I-44 Speedway on Saturday, August 14. Racing that evening will also begin at 7:30.
