(BRIGHT, INDIANA) Scott James' recent string of bad luck continued in full
force this past weekend in the pair of World of Outlaws Late Model Series
events. Friday night, Scott cut down a tire in the pits before he went on
the track for his qualifying session for the $10,000 to win event at the
Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN. He qualified poorly, but made a
good run in his heat race before a rock hit Scott in the face, causing him
to lose a couple of spots in the waning laps of the heat. He transferred to
the feature by finishing third in his consolation event, but bad luck again
struck the #83 team. On lap 29 of the feature as Scott was trying to make
is way forward in his leased Rocket Chassis, a rod broke in the motor
relegating him to a 23rd place finish.

It didn't get any better for Scott and the team on Saturday at the North
Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA. After spending most of the day
replacing the broken power plant and all the lines in the Powell Motorsports
/ Baylor Trucking #83 Rocket Monte Carlo, Scott qualified decent, but then
missed on tires in his heat race. He came up to fifth in his consolation
race, but had to take a provisional to get into the feature. After driver
introductions before the feature event, Scott tried to start his car on the
front stretch, but an ignition failure forced Scott pit side before the race
had event started. He finished dead last in the 26th spot.

"Things are going pretty bad for us right now," said "The Silver Shark" on
Monday afternoon. "Ever since we had that good run from the back at
Florence over a month ago, we have had all sorts of problems. The Rocket
car was pretty good at Smoky Mountain on Friday and then a rod broke in the
motor. That got us behind on Saturday because we only had that one car and
we had to end up borrowing a motor from Racetek. I have to thank all of
those guys at Racetek for helping me out this weekend."

"We just have to keep our morale up because things are going to turn around
for us. We pick up those two new Rocket cars this week and we are also
getting a motor back from Rhodes Performance this week. It felt good to be
back in a Rocket last weekend, even though our finishes didn't show it."

Scott and the team will be busy this week preparing their new cars and
getting them ready for the next WoO events. He will not race this weekend,
but will leave next Monday for WoO Late Model shows in Fargo, ND, Lincoln,
NE, and Farley, IA over the next week. The latest on the World of Outlaws
