(Warrensburg) The weather cooperated long enough on Saturday for the final night of CMS racing action on PAR Electric / Fan Appreciation Championship Night at the Races. A total of 90 drivers checked into the pits in 5 classes with race fans cheering on their favorites throughout the night of championship racing.

Season Points Champions were finalized on the last feature races of the year at CMS with visiting Modified driver Kevin Blackburn from Fulton driving his racing machine into victory lane with the weekly a $1000 feature win in the Mighty Modified division. Aaron Marrant finished in sixth place to secure his first Mighty Modified Track Championship in a division featuring a long list of talented drivers.

Limited Late Model driver and 2006 Points Champion, Brett Rollert continued his roll of victories in this exciting class with his eleventh feature win of the season. His dominance was evident in another strong finish with 19 cars registered for the event.

Tyler Lewis also showed off his improving driving skills with his B-Modified feature victory for his second win in a row. He took the checkers for his fourth feature win of the season in this new class at CMS. Tony Nelson wrapped up the first B- Modified Track Championship at CMS last weekend with consistent top five finishes this year in his B- Modified.

Warrensburg’s Chad Eikleberry drove his 09 Street Stock to the checkered flag for his first feature victory this year. The Street Stock feature also produced a new Track Champion for 2006 with Jimmy Ngo from Independence winning the Track Points Championship at CMS.

The 305/360 Sprints were back in action on the track with Track Points Champion Josh Fisher finishing the season on top with a group of young drivers in this class. Jeremy King won the Sprint feature with his 360 Sprint for his first feature victory of the year after several cars dropped out.

The Limited Late Model feature was a walk in the park for Brett Rollert. Rollert held the lead from the start of the race with James Rutledge making some attempts to pass him on the low side. Owen Evinger then challenged as he worked has way into second place around Rutledge before spinning out around turn two before moving back to the tail of the field. Finally, on the last lap Rutledge and Danny Monroe spun out in turn four into the tires fighting for the third place finish. Bob King had a nice run into a second place finish after passing Rutledge.

The 305 Sprints roared back to action for a final time this season along with a 360 Sprint. The crowd came to their feet gasping after a first lap flip in turn four with Josh Fisher turning completely over after hitting Cristi Hoenshell. Fisher was done for the night after he ripped off his top wing. Fortunately, he was not hurt and drove his car back into the pits and on to the trailer for the night. Chris Walker then held on to the lead for several laps until his engine gave way on the back straight with Hoenshell inheriting the lead. Her car then broke on the front end in turn four. Finally, after a costly Rick Shur spin again in turn four, Jeremy King survived the remaining race in first place and took home the checked flag for his first feature win and visit to victory lane this year.

The Street Stocks once again provided some exciting racing with Jimmy Ngo finishing in 12th place with enough points to take the Street Stock Points Championship.

Ngo was a consistent top five, top ten finisher throughout the season to take the eventual Track Championship with a patient racing approach. He stayed out of trouble and finished races throughout the racing season. Chad Eikleberry was thrilled to win his first feature of the year. James McMillin was scheduled to start on the front row with him, but had to start in another car after suffering some mechanical problems after his heat race victory. Eikelberry stayed out front for the entire race with some tough challenges from Brian Johnson especially low on turn four. Johnson held on and finished strong in second with Jay Lyle on his tail attempting to take the second spot away. Another scary accident occurred when Krystal Guy flipped her car over turn two and could not get out of the car. Guy was ok after track officials removed some sheet metal and she was able to step away from the accident without any injuries.

Meeker had to pull off with a mechanical problem and Lewis inherited the lead to take his fifth feature of the year. Evinger looked strong leading the early laps, but lost it high on turn two with Meeker pulling into the lead.

The Mighty Modified division was a tough one again this year with talented drivers from all over the four state area. The final night was no different with action packed heat races featuring side by side racing along with another solid run into victory lane during the feature event from a visiting driver. Kevin Blackburn from Fulton running at CMS for just the second time this year, lead from his start on the front row for his first feature win at CMS. Joe Bradshaw had great run from a 13th place start to finish second making some late passes to move up front. Another unbelievable race was featured by Terry Schultz after a first lap exit over turn two relegating him to the tail end of a field of 28 starting modifieds. He patiently worked his way up through the field including the high side late in the race to a solid fifth place finish with the fans enjoying the great effort.
