Federated Auto Parts @ I-55 Sept. 28th AARA Fall Nationals adds B-Mods to the Show!

I'm not knocking Highland rules, but I didn't build a car around Highland's rules and it sucks that I live 20 min from the Pevely track and race Farmington and can't race because Pevely's counting on guys coming from at least an hour away to come race. As far as quick change rear end's being more expensive I disagree, for those of us that like to travel and have 3+ sets of gears it starts to add up to the point where I could have bought a used quick change set up for the same price. On the 4 link topic nearly every A Mod is using a 4 link, and a lot of B-mod guys go out and buy used A-mods, why would I want to buy someone's old A-mod and convert it over to 3 link, then have no feel for a 4 link when I decide to move up to A-mod? The only real point I want to make is let Benton or Tri City rules apply so we can all race.

I agree, B-mods should be what they are meant to be: No 4-links, No berts/brinns, 360 cid limit all steel flat tappet motors, 500 cfm 2-brl holley's, and 2500 lbs. Anything else should be A-mod. And for the love of God, TECH THEM!!!

I never said to allow quick changes only pointed out that they are allowed at some tracks...keep the rules on motor size and carbs the same as highland

My opinion on the class, It is taking off great. But like anywhere rules contradict. Bert or Brinnis ok. By the time you buy the triple disc and try to keep a saginaw or 4-speed together or find them it is just as cheap and doesn't make ya that much faster. Quick change- i could go either way on this topic. By the time you build 3 sets of gears for a 9 inch you got the same money invested as a quickchange. Plus its not making you any faster.(again) And for the suspension, this should bea 3-link class. I know the $ amount on birdcages you can spend and its unreal. Go back to the KISS theory. Keep it simple stupid. And in my opinion, the motor rule should be the Allied engine package. Sorry folks but it is a good engine rule package that nobody wants to buy into. Shit intake and choke them off. That keeps cost down. Jeremy Thole pry has one of the worst motors in the class at Highland and B-town but has the best handling car and just keeps winning. In the end, doesn't matter what motor you got if you cant make it in a circle, no matter how good of a driver you think you are, your not gonna win! (This rule applies to most) Jon Ripperda

jrip-196===I agree with you on the motors..right now the 3d place car at highland has ponders allied legal FLAT TOP 355 that had a bunch of laps in 2012..i have been on the bert/brinn drama FOR SOME TIME..the brinn in my 17 a mod was in my 25 lm and just now is needing a rebuild (6 or 7 years is my guess)also the steel head 355 in the 17 car was built for my b mod or the 54 b mod..it has as much azz as my roller cam/aluminum head 360 I had in the car earlier this year............the class killer would be to restrict the b mods to crate motors..i bought a used grt mod with the affore mentioned 355 for 2500$..it cost me 800$ to have it freshened up and the car?

For the one race they are going to run b-mods, i dont see why they cant go by bentons rules with the weight breaks so they can fill the pits full of them!!! I would be all for bringing my car, but im running farmington rules, so looks like im gonna miss out

springer i dont know why you waste ur time u are nobody again this year last year u showed up at rules meeting telling us how it should be and again u have no dog in the fight so just butt out highland went from 15 cars to as many as 25 so something has to be working and there are still more being built so i guess ur way must not be the best jmo

Lol. Well..

1. I NEVER said it wouldn't work.

2. I barely said anything at the rules meeting. I asked to have a rule clarified.
3. I'm sorry that my breaking a vertebrae in my back inconvenienced you. Next time I'll just go against doctors orders, work comp and risk my livelihood to make you happy.

Thanks.

My post wasn't intended on stating my opinion for this race, just feeding off the conversation.

I actually hope they keep Highlands rules for it. Hard for me to consider a 4 link unlimited cube motor on a 2bbl a b mod.

Hit the nail on the head. Great post!

jmo open the rules to bentons rule and try to draw cars from 10 tracks instead of 2 the more cars they have the more money they make west plains had a big show with several different track rules and it went very well. Another thing this isn't a normal class for allied open it up u say there is 25 cars at highland you might get half of them between Farmington and Benton there are 35 cars you get half you have a full field of cars I believe the cars following the weight break would be on a equal playing field

Off topic but which kind of SS's are they talking about? It says ump SS but that highland runs a different version......... i have one of each not sure which car to bring..........
