Shane Cockrum DQ'd from 2016 Chili Bowl

After making his qualifying attempt earlier in the week, Shane Cockrum attempted to race again on Friday night as Alex Shanks. Chili Bowl officials became aware that Cockrum was attempting a second qualifying night and DQ'd him entirely from the 2016 Chili Bowl.
 
I think that's hilarious! If you get away with it, great, if not, everyone can laugh about it. Really, either way it becomes a great story to laugh about for years to come and puts your name down in Chili Bowl history.

It reminds me of a night at TCS back in the early 2000's and I won't name names, but a car owner decided to drive ( and it wasn't like he never drove before but he just wasn't that good) in the heat and finished far enough back to run the consi. So they put the "regular" driver in for the consi who was a pretty good shoe and he took it to the top 2 or whatever to make the feature. Feature time, car owner is back behind the wheel. I saw that and thought it was pretty funny and they did get away with it.

It just makes it hard not to post "Alex Shanks" any time I see a "can you name the driver?" picture...lol
 
I agree it was STUPID funny to think they could get by with it!!! So many people in such a small space, plus everyone has a camera on their phone these days!
 
All the more reason to have a good laugh about it. Took some real cheek to try and pull that off under those circumstances. Just think what people would be saying had he actually pulled it off.. lol
