CHATHAM, IL (September 12, 2005) – Attention-grabbing dirt late model standout, Brian Shirley, once again stole the show at Ray Marler and Ken Schrader’s I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO, and this time on the “Season Championship Night”. Shirley has ventured from his central Illinois home to the track for seven events during the 2005 season including stops on the U.M.P. Summernationals and Challenge of Champions tours. The 24-year-old motorcycle ace won four of the events and his latest performance was his third clean sweep there during this season!

Shirley commanded attention with dominating performances in both the heat race and dash and easily walked off with a straightaway lead in the feature until an early caution would allow the field to regain the pace. On the restart, regional hotshoe Billy Faust would follow Shirley on the high side and gave a great chase until Faust’s high-side moves turned dramatic when his #26 would climb the wall and flip. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the single car incident and racing resumed while Shirley went unchallenged and pulled away to a half-track advantage over Tim Ratajczyk (2005 track championship points runner-up) and Ed Dixon (2005 track champ) when the checkers fell.

This weekend the #3s team will attend the World of Outlaws’ Late Model Series triple-header at Tri-City Speedway on Friday, I-55 Raceway’s “Pepsi Nationals” on Saturday and Sunday’s “Illinois Fall Nationals” finale at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Shirley is preparing for double-duty in WoO late models and U.M.P. modified division at the Springfield Mile on Sunday.
