Shortend night at t-city??

Photo0301.jpgoops what happen here

this was almost mt vernon all over again. the concrete failed but the fence did its job.i no kevin will have a better wall inplace by next weekend

that could have been real bad. hope everyone is alright. you can bet that kevin will have something in place..

if this would have been a mod or a late model it would have been in the grandstand. And for EVERYONE that likes to stand by the fence.this is why u SHOULD NOT.

This has been a known problem since the track opened. There have been several instances where cars have gotten into the fence in the same area. The wall is very low coming off of turn 4. I can see that this car hit in a spot where they did have a new wall poured on top of the old wall, so he must have hit way up by the pit road nearly head on.

The guy driving the car came from the middle of the track head on into the top of the wall. Look at how the tractor is sitting and you will see why that wall failed and the catch fence barely stopped the car.

Yes, he didn't hit the wall at an angle. He got turned to the right and went into the wall almost straight headon at full speed. The guy driving the car may actually be lucky that the wall collapsed. As fast as he was going and as straight of a headon collision he made, it would of been a hard stop if that wall had held.

The cables in the catch fence did their job and stopped the car. The fence and wall do not look pretty and absorbed the impact, but the bottom line is, the safety cables that were in place, (and will be again) did their job.

One thing that irritates me about this is why was the wall not anchored into the ground or wall it was sitting on?

If it were anchored into the ground and it did not give as it did and that driver was killed or seriously hurt from the impact...would you seriously be less irritated? This was a freak accident and NOBODY was hurt. Why can't we be thankful for that fact?

will this postpone any races out there from the wall getting knocked down or will they get it fixed by friday

I would guess that the weather will have a say in that. There is a lot of rain forecasted this coming week. I hope they can get it fixed up. I'm sure that if they can't get it fixed, Kevin will make an announcement on or before Thursday.

I totaly agree with the wall failing (if that's what you call it). I'll call it softer wall for absorbing impact. Thought everything did its job

we cant go by the IF word we can only go by what did happen the wall failed and and the fence picked up the slack of the wall. When ever u have a wall like that fail u have enginenering problems with that wall.what kevin needs to do is find a good fix so this dnt happen again. we in the stands were very lucky it wasnt a latemodel or a mod hit like that.

Think of other tracks where it you dont have the large walkway,,, MACON,, Lincoln,,, SHEPPS speedway in Alexander only has a 3 foot moveable wall,, when a car bumps the wall coming out of turn 4 you can feel it setting on the bleachers! MARK MY WORDS THERE WILL BE A CAR IN THE CROWD AT SHEPPS SPEEDWAY,,, the backstretch is even worse there is small low bleachers there,, turn 2 is a deathtrap in the bleachers,,

i hope there is no finger pointing at kevin cause its not his fault the wall fell over he hired contractors to do a job and they just half *****ed it the old part they was to drill holes 6 to 8 inches and put the rods in and they only drill the holes about 1 1/2 to 2 inches so i hate to be that contractor that he hired to do that job but kevin will get it fixed

If kevin was smart he would build up the entire front wall you would think after the first time he would build it up but its happened 3 times since whats it gonna take for him to realize it's not safe at all does someone have to be seriously hurt or killed? cause if that happens there will no longer be a tri-city speedway with all the lawsuits they will have

What is worse? One person killed because the wall did not give? Or several people killed because a car is on top of them in the grandstands? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Do the fans have to come to a race track with a fire suit and helmet now. What if a child was with his Dad going to get a hotdog when this happened?

That wall should have never done that, REPEAT, that wall should have never done that.

Kevin was in such a HURRY to get this track done. I'm sorry if I make people mad, but this is Kevins fault. And some of you will not care but I am not taking my 5 year old or myself to the races there anymore. Like a person said in an earlier post, what if this was a late model or modified? And I don't care if he does go into the wall straight on either. The fans should feel safe at the race track.
