Inside Line Promotions - PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2018) - Jason Sides posted his best World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series result at Port Royal Speedway in 15 years last Sunday during the Tuscarora 50.

"That was a night where you wanted to draw big because of how wet the track was," he said. "We were in luck because we got the No. 67. It was split qualifying. We timed in 10th in our group and it turned out after qualifying like that because of the inversion of four in each heat we were on the pole."

Sides finished in the runner-up position in a heat race to lock into the 10 th starting position for the main event.

"We didn't get a very good start in the heat race," he said. "I thought it was decent, but Danny Dietrich was beside me. I tried to stay with him into turn one. It was like our stuff was too cold waiting even with the heater on it. It had that cold transmission feel where it lugged down through there. After the first lap or two it started feeling really good.

"We had a game plan for the main event, but it got thrown out the window when our car pushed like a dump truck going into the first turns. That's the second week in a row it did that. I'm not sure what causes it. It does it with a full load of fuel and with no air on your wings. Nobody else has that problem so I'm not sure what's causing it for me. I fell to the back and watched all the crashes and saw a couple of motors blow up. We kept ourselves on the lead lap until the mid-race red flag. We didn't put as much fuel in it during the break and it seemed like we were pretty good. We worked our way back through there."

Although Sides started 10th, he dropped to the back of the field on the opening lap. He then maneuvered through the field before securing the 10th position in the closing laps. It marked his best finish at Port Royal Speedway since 2003 when he ended seventh.

Sides will wrap up the season this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the World of Outlaws World Finals with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

"At the end of the season we've finally got a handle on some things," he said. "I hate that it's over, but at the same time I'm glad. We can start rebuilding and going for next year."
