Southern Illinois Raceway Prepares for Two Big Weekends of Racing

Marion, IL-Richard Poe, promoter of Southern Illinois Raceway is pleased to announce two big weekends of racing in August at the 1/8 mile clay oval located just three miles east of Marion on Illinois Route 13. First up for the SIR Outlaw Micro Sprints and the SIR traditional micro sprints (non
winged) will be the first running of the Terry Sprague Memorial on Saturday night August 11.

Sprague, a local driver popular with Southern Illinois race fans and competitors lost his life as a result of a motorcycle accident earlier this year. As a tribute to Sprague local resident Bill Lowe has sponsored the evening through Bill Lowe Painting and the main events for both the outlaw and traditional micro sprints will pay $650 to win each feature!

The next Saturday, August 18 will feature People’s National Bank (of Marion) Night at the Races with a top prize of $1000 going to the winner of the winged SIR Outlaw Micro Sprint main event.

Admission is just $5 for adults both nights, racing begins promptly at 7 p.m. each evening.
