Once again the CMS highbanks will feel the heat from the SMRS midget cars as the group returns for its second and final scheduled appearance on the dirt oval this Saturday, August 4th for Pepsi Night at the Races! There was a sellout crowd on hand to cheer on Gary Taylor to victory lane during the first appearance by the series back in early June. The SMRS is a traveling group of midget racers that is based out of Oklahoma. A total of 26 cars checked in last time and there is certain to be another stellar field of the best racers on hand for this weekend’s racing action. You can learn more about the series by logging on to www.smrsmidgets.com. Due to the expected large car counts this weekend private automobiles will not be allowed in the pits.

As always, CMS will run their normal four-class program consisting of the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B-modifieds. Pill draws determine the qualifying heat-race lineups at CMS and close out at 6:30 just as the drivers’ meeting gets underway. There are already 14 weeks completed this year at the ‘Burg as the chase for the division championships begin to head down the final stretch. The final night of competition is scheduled for September 8th. A rundown of the top ten in the point battles appears at the end of this press release. Drivers, owners and crewmen are reminded that the 2008 Rules Meeting will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 4 p.m. at the track. All rules inputs are due to track officials as soon as possible for consideration and inclusion. Other coming events at the ‘Burg include the ever-popular Kids’ Night at the speedway on August 11th where kids 12 and under will be competing on the track in foot races per age and gender. All kids in attendance will receive a free goodie bag full of an assortment of items compliments of drivers, sponsors and fans. Also on August 11th it will be the annual Late Model special with increased purse and payout for the late model division. On September 1st the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds will compete in their final “big one” of the year for $2,000-to-win!

Special admission prices for this weekend are in effect with General Admission $15, Seniors 65+ $12, Military and Students w/I.D. $12, Children Age six to Twelve $10, Kids Age 5 and Under Free with Pit Passes at $25. The track is located off of Hwy 13 three and a half miles north of Warrensburg from the intersection of Highways 13 and 50 or 13 miles south of the Interstate 70 exit at Higginsville just off of Hwy 13.
