FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- (May 9, 2004) The Fredericktown Raceway has once again improved it's payout schedule for drivers. Effective immediately and until further notice, there will only be one payout schedule for both the Sportsmen and the Modified classes with the winning drivers receiving $500. Second place in each class will receive $350 with third earning $275, fourth $200 and fifth place $150.
The change makes the payout for the Sportsmen class the best in the region and one of the best for the Modifieds.
There was another major change made for the Sportsmen class at the Fredericktown Raceway as now all of the Allied Racing Association Sportsmen can race at the Fredericktown Raceway with no weight penalties. In other words the racers from tracks such as I-55 Raceway and Belleville can now race on Friday nights at Fredericktown without having to make any modifications to their cars. Racers from the St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington also can race at the Fredericktown Raceway without making any modifications.
"They will simply be running the same rules they run at either I-55 or at Farmington," said Fredericktown Raceway promoter Terry Flanagan.
The Fredericktown Raceway Modified class is an IMCA style class, however the UMP Modifieds are also allowed to participate if they add 50 pounds to their car and use the IMCA style tires.
"We think these simple rule changes will make for some fantastic racing," Flanagan said.
Besides the track's normal Friday night program this week, there will also be a special event on Sunday, May 16th. The Fredericktown Azalea Racefest was rained out on May 2nd and moved to the 16th. The Modifieds and the Sportsmen will both be participating in this event now even though they originally were not a part of the program. Also racing that day will be the RAMS Mini Stocks (with the Driver's Seat 25), the Pure Streets (with a 40-lap feature and $400 to win), the Dwarf cars and the Pro 4 Stocks/Hornets. For more information on any of these events contact Flanagan at (573) 783-3901 or Jeff Mills at (573) 747-0566.
