If you’ve been planning on coming out to CMS this year, you’d better hurry as there are only four nights remaining for the 2006 chase for the championships in all five Contingency Connection classes! This Saturday; the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds, Limited Late Models and Street Stocks will be joined by the winged 305 Sprint Cars for an exciting night of dirt-racing action. The past couple of weeks have seen increased car counts and fierce racing in all divisions as drivers are racing hard to increase their point’s positions. The first 100 fans in the stands this weekend will receive free t-shirts from KDKD radio; one of the evening’s racing sponsors and Clinton residents will receive $2 off their grandstand admission price with valid proof of Clinton residency.

Last week Aaron Marrant of Richmond, Missouri, had an exciting evening both on and off the track. The young driver convincingly made his way to victory lane for the third time in his ‘Mighty’ Modified and closed the gap on current point’s leader Dennis Walrath. Shortly after Marrant took the checkers, his wife went into labor and the family quickly made their way to the hospital where they welcomed a new baby daughter! Look for the intense battle between Walrath, Marrant and Joe Bradshaw to continue this weekend as only 53 points separate this trio of talented drivers as they chase the coveted ‘Mighty’ Modified title.

Brett Rollert has all but wrapped up the Limited Late Model title this year, but that’s not to say the rest of the competition is ready to move aside and let Rollert dominate the rest of the season. Many strong competitors have challenged and at one time or another have beaten Rollert throughout the season to include Shawn Williams, Owen Evinger, and Jason Estes. Richard Leigh, Kevin Coyne and Walt Imhoff have also had recent strong runs in this division. Rollert picked up the big $1,000 paycheck last week for the special Limited Late Model race. This week the drivers will continue their quest to improve their positions in the season-ending standings behind Rollert.

Warrensburg’s Marc ‘the Shark’ Carter grabbed another feature victory last week in the Street Stock division and made his way back into the point’s hunt as a result of his win. Current point’s leader Jimmy Ngo leads five other drivers, including John Ebert, Tammy Korff, Chad Eickleberry, Carter and Bret Nail in the top six by a mere 94 points. With time quickly running out for them to improve their current positions, you can rest assured the always exciting Street Stocks drivers will continue to provide the fans with side-by-side battles throughout the night. The competition in this division has been very strong all year with over 20 different winners visiting victory lane in various racing action!

Tony Nelson can rest fairly easily as he has had perfect attendance this year in his B-modified, which has helped him to maintain a comfortable lead over the rest of his competitors. Behind Nelson however, you’ll find Marc Evinger, Greg Marrant, Tyler Lewis and Wayne Stevens in a 4-way battle for the second spot. Evinger has claimed a total of five feature victories this year after missing the first few weeks of competition. Lewis and Stevens are also previous feature winners in this exciting new division. Last week it was announced that Central Missouri Speedway and Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri, will be teaming up on rules and cooperation in order to grow the B-modified class in the local area. Look for the B-mod car counts to continue to grow through the end of this season and then skyrocket for next year’s action!

The 305 Sprint Cars have only two more nights of competition remaining at CMS this year. They will race this Saturday night and then once again on the final night on the schedule for CMS, which will be September 9th. Young driver Josh Fisher has steadily maintained his lead throughout the year with 7 feature victories to his credit. Several drivers have stepped up their racing programs recently though with Zach Goulden and Christi Hoenshell beating Fisher to the line to grab a trio of feature victories.
