Stacker 2 M.A.R.S. Tour Hosts Night of Champions

Branson, MO (11/12/05) – The Stacker 2 Mid America Racing Series (M.A.R.S.) hosted the 2005 Night of Champions Awards Banquet on Saturday night at the Clarion Hotel in Branson, Missouri as over $120,000 in point’s money was handed out.

The night kicked off with Justin Wells from Aurora, Missouri being awarded with the 2005 Sportsmanship Award. Jack Sullivan from Greenbriar, Arkansas was awarded with the Most Improved Driver Award. Sullivan finished 17th in the point standings in 2004, but improved to a 3rd place finish in 2005.

GRT Race Cars, based out of Greenbriar, Arkansas, was presented with the award for Manufacturer of the Year for the 2005 season after the majority of the tour’s events were won by drivers piloting the popular chassis. Hatfield Racing Engines, based out of Joplin, Missouri, received the Engine Builder of the Year Award for amassing the most feature wins.

Justin Wells was presented with the Rookie of the Year honors and received a $3,000 check for his efforts. Dane Dacus from Lakeland, Tennessee finished a close second in the Rookie of the Year chase and was also recognized.

Terry Phillips from Springfield, Missouri earned the most JFR Graphics Pole Positions during the course of the 2005 season and received special recognition as did Wendell Wallace from Batesville, Arkansas, who had the second most number of JFR Graphics Pole Positions in 2005.

For the second straight year Terry Phillips was crowned as the Stacker 2 M.A.R.S. Champion and received the $25,000 prize. The Championship marked the third title overall for the Springfield, Missouri driver. Wendell Wallace received second place honors with Jack Sullivan, Jeff Floyd, and Bill Frye rounding out the top five.

The remainder of the top fifteen, who were presented with prize money, trophies, jackets, and gift certificates from JFR Graphics and New Vision Graphics, consisted of Justin Wells, Steve Rushin, Dane Dacus, Gary Stolba, Brandon McCormick, Joey Mack, Jordan Jones, Dewaine Hottinger, Leslie Essary, and Brad Looney.

The 2006 schedule is already starting to take shape with several new venues joining the slate. There will be several $5,000 to win races in 2006. Also, in the works are challenge events with the UMP Super Late Models and the Southern All Star Super Late Models. The 2006 schedule should be complete by the PRI show in December.
