Inside Line Promotions - ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (April 17, 2017) - Trey Starks fought an uphill battle throughout last weekend's competition in Central Pennsylvania.
Starks and the Gobrecht Motorsports team kicked off the weekend on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, where they started at the back of a heat race because of a high pill draw.
"We drew really bad and had to start last in our heat," he said. "We picked up a couple of spots, but it wasn't enough to get into the main."
Starks advanced from ninth to seventh place in the heat race, which relegated him to the B Main. He then picked up a position in the consolation race to finish fourth and garner the final transfer into the back of the main event.
"We passed a few cars in the feature," he said. "Luckily we finished the race and got some laps. It doesn't help that we haven't been able to get many laps this season. A lack of laps combined with the few issues we've ran into haven't made for a great start to the season."
Starks maneuvered from 24[sup]th[/sup] to a 17[sup]th[/sup]-place result.
"It wasn't where we wanted to be," he said. "We have some things to work on. We need to find a little more speed and hopefully draw better at races that don't have qualifying."
Starks was slated to compete on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, but mechanical problems hampered the team before the action began.
The Gobrecht Motorsports team will take this weekend off before tackling a tripleheader with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions on April 28 at Williams Grove Speedway; April 29 at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa.; and April 30 at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa.
