(FRANKLIN, INDIANA) Steve Barnett and his #89 team made a last minute decision to invade the Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Indiana on Saturday night, August 25 for a weekly UMP event. The decision paid off in a big way, as the "Franklin Flyer" notched his sixth victory of the 2007 racing season and his first at the Hoosier State venue. Steve won his heat race in preliminary action and captured the win in the A-Main ahead of Mike Mataragas, Kerry Mathew, Richie Hedrick, and Dan Walden. “I was planning on heading south to Bardstown for the Lucas Oil Series show, but there was a lot of rain in the area and the rain had left northern Indiana,” commented Barnett this week. “It turned out to be a great decision and we were able to get the win at Kamp. Hopefully, our car will continue to run strong this coming weekend at Brownstown and Twin Cities.”
The Steve Barnett Racing team will head to two more Hoosier State ovals this coming weekend. On Saturday, September 1, the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana will play host to a $1,200 to win regular show. Following a day off, Steve will travel to the Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon, Indiana on Monday, September 3. The annual ‘Ted Collins Memorial’ is on tap on Monday at Vernon and a $1,500 top prize is up for grabs.
