Last weekend, drivers competed at Lucas Oil Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) for the nineteenth and twentieth possible points-earning events of the season. Friday night sanctioned competition at Callaway Raceway and Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) was washed out by excessive rains. After Saturday competition concluded, two more drivers earned their second ULMA wins of the year as Evan Hubert drove to a victory at Lucas Oil Speedway with Steve Clancy leading the way at CMS.

At Lucas Oil Speedway last weekend there were 15 ULMA member drivers competing among 17 drivers present. For heat race number one, Tommy Cordray, who travels all the way from Browning in the northern part of Missouri to compete in his #5 Tom's Collision Repair MastersBilt, raced to victory lane ahead of Kevin Kaiser, Jake Williams, and John Fellers. Marshall, Missouri driver Bryon Allison took the top spot in the second heat in his John Rector Motors-sponsored #1a over fellow ULMA members Evan Hubert, Robbie Wright, and Matt Menzie. For the main event, Kaiser and Hubert brought the field under the flag stand for the initial green-flag laps. The lead duo fought hard to control the race through the opening half dozen laps but Hubert ultimately claimed the point and went on to post his first-ever late model win at the speedway, it was his second overall ULMA win of the year. Kaiser settled for second position, solidifying his quest to become the third ULMA champion, the Cole Camp driver now sits second in overall ULMA points with twelve starts under his belt. Seventh-starting Matt Menzie of Clever, Missouri moved up four positions to claim third with Allison settling for fourth; Cordray rounded out the top five finishers. Other member drivers posting top-ten finishes included Wright, Toby Ott, and Brothers Harlen and Andy Kennedy. Lucas Oil Speedway hosts another Saturday night of weekly action this weekend. At CMS last Saturday night, there were 12 member drivers competing among the 15 drivers checked in and for the fifth week in a row, a new winner drove his car to the main-event win. Two heat races determined the line-up for the feature event with Odessa, Missouri driver Steve Clancy showing the way in his GRT for heat one ahead of Jon Binning of Warrensburg, Jeff Schlup of California, and A.L. Barbour of High Point. Kevin Coyne drove his American Made chassis #22 to victory in heat two, Robbie Test claimed third with Randy Ainsworth crossing the line in fourth. Clancy and Coyne started on the pole positions for the feature race with Clancy grabbing the early lead. A furious battle ensued at the front of the field with Clancy down low and Coyne up high nearly the entire race distance. By midway through the race, Binning powered his way to second using the high side in his All Pro Electrical GRT #65. Lap-after-lap, Binning and Coyne drove side-by-side in a classic battle for second just behind Clancy who held firm on the low side in first. Meanwhile, Robbie Test and his father Bob were having some close-quarters racing of their own also inside the top five. Fans in the stands roared with approval as the field crossed the finish line for the final time in what was a memorable main event. Clancy claimed the victory in a very popular win, which was his second ULMA victory of the year. Binning was second followed by Coyne, who held strong for a third-place run with Robbie Test edging out his father Bob as the Jefferson City drivers finished fourth and fifth. Other ULMA drivers in the top ten included Schlup seventh, Walt Imhoff in eighth, Barbour ninth and Danny Lorton tenth. CMS holds another week of competition this weekend, be sure to check out all the latest track news at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

Taking a closer look at the overall standings, Robbie Test holds the lead and over the weekend became the first driver to compete in fifteen different points-earning events. ULMA drivers keep their fifteen best finishes at the end of the year and begin discarding finishes as they improve placements during remaining events. As previously mentioned, Kaiser sits securely in second with twelve starts. Coyne, also with twelve starts this year holds down third position one rung ahead of Danny Lorton with thirteen starts. Bob Test sits in fifth; the veteran driver also has accumulated thirteen starts this season.
