(Paducah, KY) It will be a star-filled Kentucky summer night on Thursday, August 1st, at Paducah International Raceway. The fast, high-banked 3/8th mile dirt oval has concentrated the 2013 season on special events and this is set to be a good one as track co-owner, USAC, Indy Car, and three-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart will make, not only an appearance, but will also compete in his J.D Byrider #14 UMP Open Wheel Modified along with NASCAR star Ken Schrader. Also, in attendance, will be two-time Daytona 500 winner, and Owensboro, KY native, Michael Waltrip. The three NASCAR drivers will be available for an autograph session at the speedway from 5pm until 6pm.

The driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Mobile 1 is now racing for his own team, Stewart Haas Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Since Tony started his NASCAR career, he has scored 12 championships since he first wheeled a go-kart at a Westport, IN. race track in 1978. Tony is a three-time Sprint Cup Series champion winning in 2002, 2005 and in 2011. Tony joined the NASCAR circuit by way of IRL Indy Car Series, where he was series champion in 1997. Stewart has raced just about everything including USAC’s top three national touring divisions; Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown. He is the first and only driver to have won championships in stock cars, Indy cars and open-wheel Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown cars. “When I started racing competitively when I was about seven or eight, getting a trophy that was bigger than the other kids’ was all I cared about,” said Stewart, who entered his 15th year in the Sprint Cup Series.
At age 11, Waltrip already knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. He would follow his dream to become an established race car driver like his older brother Darrell. Starting out, the younger Waltrip spent the early part of his career racing go-karts in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. His stock car racing took off in 1981, when he won the Mini-Modified division track championship at Kentucky Motor Speedway. In his 773 NASCAR career races, he has won the Daytona 500 twice, Pepsi 400 and the Gatorade 125. Current fans may know him as a television analyst on Fox Sports and SPEED-TV, an author, social media personality and frequent star of national television commercials. It is his desire that future fans view him as one of the most successful car owners in NASCAR’s premier series.
It will be a full night of action at P.I.R. which will also include the UMP Super Late Models, UMP Open Wheel Modifieds, UMP Pro Late Models, UMP Street Stocks, stock & outlaw 4cylinders, and the Kentucky Vintage cars. Also, see fireworks and special candy toss for the kids.
Grandstands will open at 4pm with Pit Gates opening at 3pm. Hot Laps are set to get underway at 7pm and sideways, dirt-slinging action begin at 7:30! General Admission for this special night is only $18, kids 12 & under are $5, 5 & under are free. Pit passes are $30.
