still keeping my opinion to myself...but now a driver that was 2 cars behind stewert and had a clear view has said that stewert did everything in his power to miss ward....the piece is on some kind of racing site on yahoo....if I can get a link up I will post it---now here is the real pizzer,,the talking heads are saying that stewert should miss this week ends race and one even went so far as to say he should not run the remainder of the nascar season----well,,thats just not how it works in racing-any form of racing---I really don't know why but us racers can over come tragic events like the death of a fellow racer and climb right back into a race car...my first hand deal was when rob jones lost his life at godfrey speedway--I was waiting to qualify at the Charlie bowl and john tomilson leaned in my car and told me what happened--I took a deep breath and went out and qualified---ARE we that cold or do us racers understand the risks we take when driving a race car-----I for one would not want the racing interrupted and I am sure most of my fellow would agree......len garson

whatever way it comes down is going to cost stewart a lot of money, but more importantly for us dirt track fans, he will probably never again race on a dirt track & we will lose an ambassador for the sport that we love.

I disagree. I don't think this is going to cost Tony a single red cent. Precedent concerning injuries/deaths at sporting events has been set by several Federal Courts. Essentially, participants and spectators, upon entering a facility, and taking their seat or entering an event, accept some amount of risk. There are elements that the venue cannot control. Balls in play, debris, race cars on the track that lose control, or in this case, a person running around on the track amongst the cars. It doesn't matter if it was a driver or spectator. I think everything is indicating that Tony tried to get out of the way, but there wasn't enough time or space. And I believe that Tony has the mental fortitude to push through this and continue racing, both NASCAR and on dirt.
