BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (May 17, 2003) Kenny Stoddard tuned up for this weekend's big two-day show by taking top eliminator honors for the first time at Big River Sand Drags in the Open 4x4 class. Stoddard had finished second in the class with John Dreher of Wentzville taking first, but Stoddard drove his Chevy S-10 to victory in the top eliminator race.
In Stock Buggy, Ralph Smith of Mineral Point was the winner with John Shadday of Leadwood taking second place and winning the top eliminator race.
In Vehicle ET, Philip Beaird of St. Louis was the top eliminator and first place winner while Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre settled for second place.
In Competition Eliminator, David Mallow of Bonne Terre made his 2003 debut and was the first place winner with Todd Dee of Leadwood taking second and winning the top eliminator race.
In Super Pro ATV, John "Thrill Show" Conner of Oak Grove was the top eliminator and first place winner while Doug Brown of Bloomsdale finished second.
In Pro ATV, Bobby Cunningham of Hartford, Ill. was the first place winner, but it was Rick Finney of St. Louis taking second place and winning the top eliminator race.
In ATV-1, Zeb Lee of Farmington was the top eliminator and first place winner with Allie Glatczak of Potosi taking second.
In Junior ATV, James Simmons of Bismarck was the top eliminator and first place winner while Garth Farris of Potosi captured second place.
This weekend is always one of the biggest weekends of the year at Big River Sand Drags. Gates will open both days (Saturday and Sunday) at 3 p.m. with time trials at 4 and racing at 7.
