CARTERSVILLE, GA – StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series officials have announced that Cookeville Speedway in Cookeville, TN will host the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour on Friday night, May 25 with a 40-lap $2,500-to-win main event. The race will begin a two-race Memorial Day weekend for the series.
North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA will host the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race on Saturday night, May 26.
“The addition of the May 25 Cookeville Speedway race gives us a strong Memorial Day weekend schedule in an area that we are expecting a big growth in Late Models powered by the economical GM Performance Crate engines,” StormPay.com DLMS President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said. “We’re excited about what Doug Smith and Thomas Watson are doing at Cookeville Speedway, and we’re hoping this will be the beginning of a long relationship with the track.”
Helm said Smith and Watson are looking at adding the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series program to Cookeville Speedway in 2008.
“Tennessee is quickly catching up to the weekly racing movement that is going on in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi from the expensive Super Late Models to the more economical Crate Late Models,” Helm said. “The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series is giving weekly Late Model racing a chance to survive with a more economical alternative for promoters and competitors alike. This savings is then passed on to the fans by curbing rising ticket prices.”
