From the website. Street Stocks are not listed.

They will not be racing this saturday July 7th. I am working with a sponsor to put a special together and looking for the right date to do it.
I have had racers tell me for years that they want to race this class a I-55. I finally talk Ray into it and the cars have not shown up to support it. I know we could of had a couple more with lax rules but even that would not be enough. Then 3 weeks ago it was only 2 cars that showed up a week before that was $250 to win which i paid out of my own pocket and only 8 showed so where is all the cars. So to continue this class together we are going to have to work at it. I will get a show together and talk to as many driver's as i can and you as driver's need to talk to as many as you can to show we can get together a nice group of cars!
WE will get a date together and a sponsor and i will open the rules a little to fall nationals type but i need some commitments from racers. I can be reached at 636-288-2716 if you want to help sponsor let me know!

the problem is that highland already has an established street stock class i believe you have to lose a class to gain a class i wouldnt mind seeing the pro4s go i know its a cheap class and its a down economy oy maybe make it an open comp class run what you brung

It's a shame the cars won't show up there cause its been the best SS racing I seen in awhile when I was there. I think dave34 is right on the date he said. Get the sponsors lined out and make it a $500 to win and start advertising now and they will come... JMO

when u say bend the rules or open what do u mean? How about letting the 14 truck of tommy gaither run and let Jason worley back there and that's two more cars for the field. When your trying to get cars sometime you have to give a little to gain some ground.JMO

Yeah but those "non-premier" classes is what helps pay for your top classes.

Not quite sure why the car count is so poor there this year. I always thought that they would get a good car count if they ever ran them. Well now that they have they have little to no support. I understand it could take some time to build the class up in the pevely area but with drawing less than 5 cars they may not get the chance to let it build. I love watching the street stocks and wish they were drawing good car counts. Letting jason worley back in would help and not throwing a fit over tommy gaithers truck would help. When having low car counts you got to give somewhere to try help building the class up. Hope the class comes around in the future there but it isnt looking too promising.

By premier you mean the late models....the ones who had 12 cars the last regular show? And non-premier I'm assuming includes the sportsmans who have the highest car count and put on a heck of a show?

dirtboy shut up and stick with something, you are good at like nothing. have a great day

I for one hate to see the class not getting the counts to justify having them because I for one like the class. The thing that's hurting them is the fact that I55 hasn't had this division since the Sportsman evolved from them in the mid 90's. So for the most part there are non in the area. Like I've said on this topic on other posts, the tracks that do have this class and have had it, the racers are from the tracks vicinity. Guys race this division because that's usually what their budget allows. Towing too far just doesn't make much sense for what most tracks pay these cars and many are just one night a week racers.. So with that said I don't know of any sure fire way to for sure bring cars in except to relax the rules some so that any highland, TCS racers can come race and/or maybe throw more money at them????? But I wouldn't just sh!t can the idea.

Before I'd just drop them for good I would at least run them once a month for a $200 to win.
Then let it be known well in advance, that we will give this class another go as a full time class next year in 2013. So if this division is possibly for you, build them buy them whatever, but they will be given the chance again next year. Maybe some of the pro4 guys will maybe jump up or some new blood may join in. ................ Food for thought!

PITDRIFTER has some good points. How many locals built or bought cars to run pevely? Dave34 arent you about the only one that built a car primarily (I'm assuming) for Pevely? When I raced at tcs, there were only myself, 27Crane, and Ems that ran SS there that were from mo. Otherwise it was all local cars. Those cars had the option of Highland,TCS, Belleville, or at an earlier time, Godfrey or Bond Co. If you look at the hometowns of the cars that have raced at Pevely, aren't a good portion of them from Il? That's a long ride, maybe even longer if they ran Friday night closer to home. I've seen a few SS there that weren't 100% Allied legal, So who cares about a truck body (14 Gaither) on a metric chassis? I don't see where there's an advantage there. (I understand rules are rules however, possibly could be addressed in the off season?). As far as the 66 of Worley, Have him put up a bond, refundable at season's end as long as he's well behaved.......I doubt you'll have a problem with him. What can be done to get cars from the mo side? Does St Francois Co run a comparable class? Whats the next nearest track that runs a similar class? How far can one travel for $150 to win?

If adding another class would put more butts in the stands,I would be all for it. The problem is that all the other area tracks opened their rules and forced the AARA SS to be a 2-track class. My point is, don't do anything to drag the show out.Running too many classes kills the surface and means the Features don't get over before midnight! Not GOOD!!!! Also, DON'T change the rules just to please a few it will cause more problems! I agree that the travel is an issue with a low-budget team...(Been There,Done That,Got the T-Shirt)
