Summer Sizzler Modified Series week 1 recap

The Summer Sizzler Modified Series kicked off week one of the 5 race tour this past weekend.

Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, KY was stop #1 for the series this weekend. PIR saw a strong field of 35 cars check into the pit area to battle it out for a starting position in the 20 lap main event paying $1,000 to with winner. After an early morning rain at the 1/2 mile speedplant the track was very racey and was calling out for horsepower!
The heat race results looked like this:

AFCO Racing Products Hard Charger: Matt Mevert (from 20th to 8th)

Stop 2 on the series took place Saturday Aug. 30th at Western KY Speedway in Nebo, KY paying $2,000 to win. 38 cars checked into the pit area on what proved to be one of the best modified races ever in Western Kentucky history. A format of group qualifying for the Modified Series. Paul Miles took home top honors and the $50.00 HDM Performance Parts fast time Award. The feature would be one to remember as it went 30 laps caution free and only 3 of the 24 car starting field retiring from the event.

Rounding out the first week of Summer Sizzler Modified Series action was the "Class Track" Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN. 46 modifieds checked into the pit area for action and the highest paying modified event at the 1/4 mile speedway for the 2008 season. An action packed night of racing took place again and the tables turned with the series points being shaken up when the smoke cleared.

The sereis will fire back up on Saturday Sept.6th with it's 4th stop taking place at Soggy Bottom Raceway in Morgantown, KY paying $2,000 to win and then conclude at Windy Hollow Speedway in Owensboro, KY for a $1,500 to win event.
