BRASSTOWN, NC (September 24, 2017)-The Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV will invade the Ray Cook-promoted Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, N.C. this Friday Night September 29th for the 14th Annual FK Rod Ends-sponsored Tarheel 50 presented by Jacky Jones Automotive Group.
The $4,053-to-win Super Late Model event will pay $400-to-start and be 51 laps in distance this year in Memory of Frank Thompson who passed away in July. The Super Late Models will have several bonuses available. Cherokee Septic will sponsor $200 for Fast Time. $200 will be given for the driver that leads the most laps courtesy of Hayesville Trailer Sales/CM Truck Beds and they will also sponsor $100 for the hard charger in the feature event. Other event sponsors include Hogsed's Sportswear and AR Bodies.
In addition to the Super Late Model event, the Limited/Crate Late Models will race for $600-to-win with a $200 bonus going to the highest finishing Limited/Crate driver that doesn't win. Also, the Modified Hobby/602 division will compete for $400-to-win while the Street Stock division will race for $300-to-win and the Pony division will race for $300-to-win.
On Friday September 29th the pit gates open at 4:00 pm, the grandstand gates open at 5:00 pm with the Driver's Meeting slated for 7:00 pm and hot laps will follow. Adult General Admission is $20.00 with children ages 11-16 admitted for $10.00 while children ten and under are free. Adult Pit Passes are $35.00 while children ages 11-16 admitted for $15.00 while children ten and under are free.
In the series' latest event, T.J. Reaid of Acworth, Ga. captured the $5,000 payday Saturday Night September 23rd at Smoky Mountain Speedway over Tommy Kerr, Ray Cook, Donald McIntosh and Skylar Marlar. There have been eight different winners in nine races on the tour as Tim McCreadie, Tyler Carpenter, Donald McIntosh, Eddie Carrier Jr., Vic Hill, Mike Marlar (twice), Brian Smith and T.J. Reaid have all been victorious with just five events remaining on the tour this season.
The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will utilize the following Tire Rule for Tri-County on September 29th: American Racer 44, 48 & 56 (RR option only) and Hoosier 1300, 1350 & 1600 (RR option only). The Southern Nationals Bonus Series-sanctioned event will see a full racing program of practice, Qualifying, Last Chance Heats and the 51-lap main event. At each Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals, Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals and Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series event in 2017, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus.
