PEVELY, MO (7-8-06) – Brooke Tattnell picked up his 3rd World of Outlaws feature of 2006 on the short bullring known as I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO. He led 33 of the 40 laps as he was hounded by Joey Saldana and Donny Schatz the entire way. As the track began to take rubber through the turns it was very difficult to pass, but Schatz made every effort to get by Tattnell and the two exchanged the lead several times. In the end, Tattnell’s retro-looking #8 machine was headed to victory lane.

“I’m pretty happy and proud of this team right now,” said Tatnell. “The guys did an awesome job tonight. We made the decision to change the car after the dash, even though we were good in the dash. We win together as a team and we lose together as a team. We all made the decision.”

In the waning laps of the event, tires became the big story of the night as Troy Little lost a right rear tire on lap 30 and then several more cars lost right rear tires on lap 34. Tatnell was hoping they had chosen the right compound to get them through all 40 laps. As the tire problems ensued, Schatz found himself with an ill handling race car and just tried to hold on to his position, but a hard charging Daryn Pittman got around him in traffic and All Star points leader Greg Wilson followed.

“I think I had the right tires on,” said Schatz. “Something happened to the car and I don’t know if it was tire-related. The tire did have a real weird shape when we got done, and it can happen. We used it pretty hard, and it had enough to finish the race. The last 10 laps, I could not turn. I don’t know what is broken, but something definitely happened. We will have to find out what it was.”

Wilson would have his best finish of the season so far in co-sanctioned racing with the World of Outlaws. “It was an awesome night for us,” Wilson said. “It’s our best ever finish with the World of Outlaws. We’ve been running strong all season with the All Stars and it’s good to go into the ‘Month of Money,’ with a good finish.”

Wilson is ready for the upcoming Brad Doty Classic on Wednesday night, an event he has won in the past. He also is looking forward to the Kings Royal weekend at Eldora, as he continues to have a strong season.

“It’s pretty exciting for us,” said Wilson. “Lima is one of our home tracks. My owner is giving me great equipment and we have had some great weather. We are excited to go back to Ohio.”

Danny Smith had a good run all night long and he finished just outside of the Top 10 in 11th place. Chad Blonde also had a good night as he started the A-main on the front row outside of Tattnell after finishing 2nd to Tattnell in the dash. He was not able to hold on, however, and slipped back to 15th place.

Paul May finished 16th and Brandon Martin was 20th. Brock Mayes was barely edged out of the transfer spot in his heat race by Brandon Martin. The two touch as they crossed the line sending Martin into the turn one fence.

Mayes had more bad luck as he was charging to the front in the B-main as he got together with the #19 of Becca Anderson which flattened his left rear tire and sent Anderson head on into the turn one fence. Mayes was able to restart and made a hard charge up through the field, but ran out of laps leaving him with a 7th place finish.

The All Stars will be back in Ohio on Wednesday July 12th for the Brad Doty Classic. The event will be held at Limaland Speedway this year for the first time. From there, the series heads south to Eldora Speedway for the two day Kings Royal event.
