TCS & safety

THE GRANITE ROCKET
TCS looks great, really a fast track, but after the lt mod took that ride in turn one me and sone buds started looking at the front catch fence how high the front wall is,Maybe TCS needs to look in the safety aspect in this now that the racing there is faster,,I wont take much for a car reaching those speeds to get hooked up with another car take a hard right and then ya got trouble, dont want to see another Mt, Vernon,,It dosent take much for a car tire to climb the wall and into the fence at those speeds,, Dont get me wrong TCS is a great track just looking at a safety thing,,, The next time YOU are there walk down the front strech and look at what I have talked about and think where do I want to sit.
Never Know what a car is going to do when it gets a little kattywampus...JMO>>>>>>>

Sorry I missed you, Pat, BUT I was thinking the same thing.Much faster!!! Maybe a fence around the top, facing downwards, and maybe some cables strung every foot or so apart longways, at least down the front stretch..(may already be there, didnt pay much attention til you mentioned it)
What'd you think of the LIGHTING ??? Really nice place!!!

tcs

Pat, I agree 100%, with the speed coming out of turn 4 it would not take much to send a car into the fence, or God forbid , over it. With the dirt added, the frontstretch wall was too low. Maybe some cable above the fence would work. Other than that, the place is great. Well, except the sportsman do not run:confused:  :( :(

I agree, the wall/fence is probably not enough.

Also, a catch fence in the turns might have kept that late model from leaving the track and also from flipping 3 times down the back of the turn.

Its a fast track, can't wait for the big shows!

yea i agree saftey should be first and kevin will get this fixed fast.. i heard that they was going to put a catch fence up before the outlaws show..have to wait and see.. me personally i would have made the front strech wall a couple feet higher.. but thats just me..

I'm glad that someone started a thread on this subject . I was thinking about starting one but did not want to be crucified for saying something negative about the new track since everything I read about it was positve .

I went to the wednesday practice a couple of weeks ago and after about 2 minutes it seemed to me that the cars coming down the hill out of 3 & 4 heading right for the grandstands sections EE DD CC BB AA & also the poor guy stuck out on the flagstand IS an accident waiting to happen . Unfortunately mt.vernon is a perfect example of what could happen with the low front wall coming out of turn 4 .

With the 1/2 mile , the cars were already on the straightaway when they came by the grandstands with the low front wall but not now ; they are going staight for the spectators .

I used to always sit at the turn 4 end of the track but after what I saw at the practice I decided to go as far the other way as I could and sat in section E and of course in the very 1st race a car goes flying by me out of the track . I kid you not when I say that I was very concerned that night about what might happen next .

In my opinion they need to raise the wall & the catch fence in the double lettered sections at least ; need more cables put on the fence all the way down the front straight , and please build the flagman some sort of cage .

then midget racer can't see lmao

I would have thought that K&K Insurance would have inspected the place before they insured it.

Did anyone check to see if they have any insurance.

Get real. Your ignorance is about to make me finish you off this site.

You and DirtHound have nothing better to do than try and make BC & TCS rivals. Go to the track you desire and quit *****ing about the other track.

Look guys i did not post this to make anybody mad, just my out look,,only,, wedont need anybashing on here!!!! I wasnt happy at all with Kevin getting rid of the half mile at all, I grew up at TCS all my life and loved the half mile,,I can tell yu some stories,,,, But after what I saw Friday nite, they did a he!! of a job!! I didnot even get there till after 11 o clock had to work,, all I saw was all the Fetures only and I was sold, But I was looking at differnt things around the track and after hearing about the lt mod flying over the wall just started thinking,, also a few of the drivers said that the return road behind turns 3 &4 was too dark, guess U already know this,,,,,Not bashing what Kevin has done its great but some thing might need looking into thats all,,JMO!!!!

the new tcs is a awsome track, but saftey first.they need some kind of catch fence all the way aroun the corners and in front of all the people, the corner crew needs something to protect them from the cars(don;t think a chalk spreader is gonna cut it)and a better color than black fire suits, the whole don't start until the chalk line or you go back thing wasn't worth a damn.they tore up a lot of cars with that start.and no offense to the factory stock people, but come on you guys are gonna blow up after two nights there,i would like to see the sportsman cars make a comeback at that track...

Totally agree, need more wall coming out of turn 4. We will not sit anywhere close to where a car could possibly come and fly into the stands. JMO

Get rid of the factory stocks???? Kevin don't have to pay hardly anything and he got 33 of them. What do you mean they're gonna blow up? As long as they are in the right gear it shouldn't be a problem. I didn't want the sportsman gone either but the factory stocks wouldn't be the one that would've been cut.

i'm not saying get rid of the fac.stocks, hell i think its a great class to watch with the field staying close but it wasn;t a race to see whos fastest but a race to see who could stay off the rev limiter the longest.and i also understand it was everybodys first night at a new track and nobody had a clue how to set up their cars.all and all i would still like to see sportsman cars there, think it would be a good class at the new track...

I agree but its not worth having to read all the posts about one track stealing from the other!!!!

safety

Friday was my first visit to the new Tri-city. That place is wicked fast. It takes quite a bit to get me excited but I was Friday.

I have 3 major concerns for the new track. I am by no means trying to bash anyone. Sometimes things get overlooked not on purpose but because you are in a hurry or just do not see them till it is to late.

The first is the angled wall on front stretch. Late model has already shown this, I am sure they will fix it.

The second is that big hole in the backstretch wall. Think back to Bristol with Michael Waltrip. You can view this at you tube. Pretty darn scary. There were 2 hornets who almost showed you what I mean.

The third is the thickness of the walls. I was at I-70 speedway 2 or three years ago when the super latemodel went through the concrete. It was twice as thick. They were all going slower there than they are now at Tri-city.

The catch fence has already been addressed.

If you want to see the best racing in the metro area this is the place. I just hope they can fix the safety concerns that we are telling them about.

Like I said no bashing just things that I see. Just thought you should have the info. I will definitely go back.

Awesome track.:):)

Woo will be there next month,, think hw bad ***** fast that will be,,Also Woo will be here the same time the NHRA will be in town.

one other thing i seen when i ws on the track in the first test and tune is that fire plug at the end of the back straight is really close to the track. that little rail around it isnt going to stop a car going that fast. i think the track looks great and is really fast. i loved it when i was on it. and i do agree about the frt wall. something does need to be done about that before someone gets hurt bad. there are cables in the front strech fence but with the wall so low it wont take much for a car to split them cables and be in the stands.
the hole tri-city crew has done a great job so far and the season has just startd. i am sure they will get it all workd out just have to give them time.
