Bardstown, KY-May 28- Ted Nobbe of Batesville, IN took the lead with four laps remaining and drove to his first ever NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series victory on Saturday night at Bluegrass Speedway. The win for the former Florence Speedway track champion came aboard the L.W. Nobbe owned Nobbe Mower Shop/STIHL/Lykins Contracting/Lee's RV #9N Cyclone Chassis, Zimmerman Race Engines entry.

The start of the 25 lap feature event saw outside polesitter Earl Plessinger jump to the early race lead, with Josh Lucas going to second, while Jason Wheatley, Joey Kramer, and Ted Nobbe gave chase. Wheatley and Kramer would mix it up for third before the current series points leader would take the spot on lap 3, as 10th starting Joe Turner quickly worked his way to sixth by lap 5. With Plessinger setting a rapid pace at the point, Turner would reel in Nobbe for fifth, as the pair would go side by side for the spot on lap 10, with Nobbe able to hold on to the position. As Plessinger continued to stretch his lead, he was about to begin the lapping process when the first caution of the race flew on lap 17 as Robbie Gullion contacted the wall in turn three, ending his evening. The Delaware double-file restart would see Nobbe go to fourth, while Lucas was now pressuring Plessinger for the race lead, looking under the leader in turns two and four on lap 18, while Nobbe charged to third and set his sight on the lead duo. Freddy Garmon also began to flex some muscle at this point and would take the fourth spot away from Wheatley and Kramer on lap 20. Nobbe would roll around Lucas for second on lap 21, but a caution flag would wave for Kramer, who rolled to a stop in turn four with a flat right rear tire. A false restart would occur for the cone being contacted before action again got back underway. On the restart, Nobbe powered by Lucas on the outside and would take the lead on lap 22 with a turn two pass of Plessinger for the lead and looked to have clear sailing, only to see the final caution of the event wave on lap 23 when Joe Gray looped his mount heading into turn one with a broken axle. The final two laps would see Nobbe hold off Plessinger and Lucas to grab his first ever series win, with Plessinger and Lucas taking second and third respectively. Joe Turner would come home fourth, while Freddy Garmon rounded out the top five. Jason Wheatley would head up the second five, with 16th starting Hank Bradley going seventh, trailed by Adam Gootee, 18th starting Keith Denny, and Clint Shutts.

A total of thirty-five entries signed in for the 5th Annual Mod Squad Bash activities, with Josh Lucas garnering Racing Optics Fast Time honors with an 18.483 second lap. Three VP Racing Fuel Makin' Power Heats would see checkered flags fall to Kramer, Plessinger, and Wheatley. The PBM Performance Products B-Main would be scored by Bradley, while the series provisional starting spot went to Dustin Linville, while Robbie Gullion earned the track provisional.
