Just wanna win
I just read in the Breese Journal that Highland will be the home track of Kidz Modz. Did I just read it wrong or did it really say they were going to run them every other weekend there?

did they also happen to announce that the curfew was lifted? so highland plans to run 6 or 7 classes each night? i hope it works out

i dont understand where the philosophy became to have 5-7 classes of 10 to 15 cars instead of having 3 or 4 classes tops of 20-30 cars. more cars going on the trailer each night would be more profit for the promoters, and fewer classes would, in theory, allow the tracks to pay each division a little more $. and it would also promote better racing and a quicker night of racing.

In the perfect racing world there would be 3-4 classes drawing 100 to 120 cars a night. But that perfect world has taken a big hit in recent years. You can't assume if you run less classes you'll have the same amount of cars. I assume most racers race what they can afford. If you cut their class it doesn't necessarily mean they'll jump to another, they may jump out completely. A lot of places are having to run at least 5 classes to achieve the #'s. But I admit, the kidz modz thing is a joke, and was from the get go!

Do you really think that the surface got any improvements? Another class of "trains" at Highland....Amtrack Speedway...LOL!

I don't see the kids mods as a joke, everyone has to start somewhere and they are safer than the hornets. Yes, sometimes they are a little time consuming to watch after watching the faster cars, but they are KIDS, keep them interested in the good things in life!

I think it was a good idea to keep kids head straight with the class and keep them interested. I am dissing the part of 7 classes. There has been good drivers that came out of this class. Actually, dam good.

I dont understand U.M.P paying out 2000 to the winner of the class with like 9 drivers when Sportsman had like 700 different drivers and only get 3000.

I to support the kid mod series. It is a good way for the next generation of racers to get a start in a safe full size car. If you want to cut a class cut the hornets they are a joke !!! In my 35 years of being a race fan i have never heard anybody say i cant wait for the hornets to race. Buy or build a real race car or go sit in the stands.By the way the 2000 to the kid mod champ was put up and paid by Arizona Speed Sport because they recognize it is an important step for young racers.

I think they're a joke! Just a money making idea for Mr. Pierce. They aren't affordable if you wanna keep your kid in front. Where did all the racers of today and yesteryear start? They didn't have some kiddy class to start in. 4 showed at I-55, 2 weren't bad and the other 2(lower dollar) ones couldn't stay on the same straight away. The winner had a big AFCO down the side. Just another class that's easy to out dollar your competitor if daddy has big bucks. I thought karts, quarter midgets were where kids should start if you wanna get them in it early. There isn't a thing wrong with street stocks either. I think beyond a shadow of a doubt hornets are more entertaining than these things. No not many fans will say hornets are their favorite, but they help pay the bills so tracks can have their favorite higher paying classes.

Umm, and back in the day there were no cell phones, internet, etc..... Have you heard of times are changing? I think the kids mods are a great place to start and you really shouldn't say how they are a joke on here, that is just disrespectful to the kids who drive them that are reading this. And karts and quarter midgets cost too.

Last Years UMP Banquet was a long Pierce Commerical! He and his wife had the mike for at least 1/2 the nite. If Pierce wants Kids Mods, We Have Them Because UMP Says So!!. Can't Beleive They Dropped Sportsmans and Gave Us This CRAP!!!

First of all not affordable?? What class in racing is affordable? You can buy a used race ready car for somewhere between $3500-$5000.By the way you can't buy a good quarter midget or kart for that price. The show at Pevely was not the greatest because of how big the track is. If you put them on a shorter track the kids put on a pretty good show. Also pretty sure that there are low dollar cars that can't stay on the same straight in every class. The only thing you can do to maybe get ahead of the competition is work on the motor or you can go to a junkyard and take a 2.3 out of pinto if you'd like. You gain more by gear then you do by spending money having a motor built. If you read the rules on the kid mod website you have to kid mod stamped shocks which are checked. Therefore there is no benefit there. As for AFCO real big down the side of the car that won at pevely, Afco is another major sponsor of the series (hince its called THE AFCO KIDS MODZ RACING SERIES) that was the series car and those people bought it used and left the body on it. As far as the hornets help paying the higher class purses, what do you think these kid mods are doing? Do you know what the kids mods pays to win the feature???? NOTHING!!!! The track doesn't even buy a trophy, Pierce provides them. So you know what that means? That class is pure profit for the track, all they have to do is give them about 20-25 mintues and 16 laps. As far as fordman goes, this is not a UMP sanctioned class. UMP is kind enough to let kid modz have their banquet with the UMP banquet to make it a little cooler for the kids! Finally these are not the reason sportsmen got dumped, and the SPORTMOD/B-MOD class replaced them! Now I'm sure your still saying it's a joke but whatever, fact is your probably jealous you never got the chance to do what these kids get to do. One thing that was left out jrip is that yes Highland is the home track, however they do not start the kid mods till April 7th and they are every other week. Your looking at about 12 nights at Highland. I don't think that is to much to ask for.

I haven't seen the Kidzmod rule book.
Do they still require bert type trans? Do they have to run a special "Kidzmod only" chassis?
My suggestion would be to make these kids run automatic transmisions. Let them run "regular" mod chassis, not one that has to be bought from pierce.
The class would skyrocket in my opinion.
These kids wouldn't have to figure out how to shift a direct drive transmision, and make the show go MUCH faster.
How many good used, affordable modifieds are out there???? TONS!! Put in a four cylinder in it and make it a kidzmod.
Like I said I haven't read the rule book, so I'm speaking on things I heard.

Your long winded reply doesn't change my opinion of the joke they are! Go and price one from Pierce and the Mullins motor he highly recommends and tell me where thats a great place to start kids. The're classes for kids to race a helluva lot more affordable. They can race them all they want at Highland, I don't go there very often. They don't need to make classes to get the next generation of racer involved. They need to make racing more affordable for the working man!!!!!

Fordman I agree! Just another way for someone to make a buck of racing. That's what's wrong with local racing these days. Trying to make it big business!

They need to go ahead and add multi's midgets sprints dwarfs legends mini stocks and any other class there is. 6 or 7 just isn't enough......lol

The kid mod class is a joke, put them in the b mod if you don't want to put them in a bomber or hornet. Pick one of the other 3 lower classes to run in. Just like the reason they've done what they did with the other classes the past 3 years at highland, its because it benefits a few in the loop while everyone else has to wait and sit through another class of 5-7 cars.

Why Why Why

First of all i agree thats the kidz modz are a money maker for peirce but thats beside the point in what i have got to say. Gone are the days of 2 classes so get a life. The couple of times i seen the kidz modz at highland i liked watching them heck the one feature came down to the last lap. That same night the big boys modifieds could not make it a lap without spining out that was more frustrating then watching the kidz. and besides when the kidz are racing don't watch go get your beer. Oh talking of adding classes did'nt pevely add one? but because it was pevely its a good thing. Highland has its problems but so does every track come up with solutions that are workable to make it better b******* does no good.

I can tell you there is no question you can spend way more money in karts or QM than in Kid Mods. You can buy a race ready kart for $5000 or higher There rules are pretty tight and limited. The pro 4's were added many seasons ago to get new drivers in racing at a cheap cost and back then everyone raised heck over that and did not like them as well. But it grew on us all and look now it's one of the biggest classes out there and a little more fun to watch from time to time. Putting these kids in a full size mod will only make them a better driver in time. I see one thing going on at all tracks.... we are getting older and the stands are empty. A lot of older folks are burned out and I think this will help get the stands full again with younger folks and keep them off the streets . Give them a chance after all someone gave you a chance. I agree there are too many classes for one night. How about tracks helping each other out and split classes from weekend to weekend? I mean 1 track run 1/2 the classes and another track run the other 1/2 of the classes then switch tracks the next weekend? Maybe run them on Friday and Saturday. that gives both tracks open on 2 nights a week instead of just 1 That would cut the night short and give the drivers more track time. That way every class gets points every weekend and the tracks get different fans.
I know for the price of a pit pass some drivers would love to get there moneys worth out of there efforts on a weekend. Theres no real answer but give the kids a chance unless your worried they might grow up and school you on the track.
