By Katherine Adams (Savannah, GA) Twenty-year-old Robert Stutts of Murphreesboro, TN, has announced his plans to compete at the 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out presented by Stock Car Racing and Circle Track Magazines this upcoming February 2, 3 and 4. The event designed for drivers 23 years of age creates an opportunity for professional race teams to scout racing talent at one location, Oglethorpe Speedway Park, in a motorsports combine. Drivers will participate in seminars covering media relations, sponsor communication, portfolio creation and professionalism at the track before climbing behind the wheel of late models and open wheel modifieds for 25 laps of Young Gun versus Young Gun competition.

“Stutts brings a new dimension to the Shoot-Out,” said event organizer Ted Austad. “He is well versed in the media side of the business. He has a look that some of the teams are looking for in a young talent. People will be interested in meeting Mr. Stutts.”

Robert Stutts has 19 career feature wins, 20 heat race wins and the 2003 track championship at Duck River Speedway in Wheel, TN. He has qualified fastest eleven times during his career at Duck River Speedway, Winchester Speedway (TN), Tennessee Motor Speedway (TN), Thunderhill Raceway (TN), Checkered Flag Speedway (TN), Cleveland Speedway (TN), Crossville Raceway (TN) and North Georgia Raceway (GA).

On Saturday, November 19, Stutts competed in the 17th Annual Gobbler at Cleveland Speedway. He qualified second out of 38 cars in the limited late models before capturing a hard fought runner-up spot in the main event.
Stutts will compete in both the Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out and the Crate Late Model Winternationals events at Oglethorpe Speedway Park on February 2, 3 and 4. The historic half mile speedway will host two full nights of racing for the Crate Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Mini Stock and 440 series. The Young Guns features will take place on Saturday night along with the other four divisions of racing.
