I was just told here at work that Gina my wife was mentioned saturday night prior to the racing program, I thought I would post a update. Thursday Gina was having severe headaches for the third day in a row, her blood psi was pretty high peaked thursday night at 250/110. We went to the hospital and her regular doctor, Dr. Wade happened to be the ER doc in Breese. That was a good thing because he knows her history and knew that if she went to the ER something was not right. Gina is probably one of the toughest gals I have ever known (and stubborn as well) anyway. With her being Diabetic on a insulin pump with kidney disease & neuropathy, she deals with more in one day then anyone should have to. Dr. Wade decided that he had done all he could do at Breese and transfered her to Memorial in Belleville. They have a kidney specialist on staff and could manage her blood sugar better. They had her on pretty heavy duty pain killers and she could not manage her insulin pump herself and they had to disconnect her from it. Every time it is disconnected her blood sugar goes nuts she was as high as 580 which is even harder on her kidneys, and also adds to her vomiting ect. Saturday they moved her to ICU and had done a spinal tap & found she had viral meningitis which they think was cause by a severe sinus infection. Sunday when I came into the ICU she was alert & clear her blood sugar was in check as well as her as her blood psi. There really was no explanation as to why she snapped back as quick as she did. Now I am by no means religious but you have to believe there is something there. We hope to have her home Tuesday. She still has a way to go to recover but she is doing alot better. Thanks to all of our racing faimly and friends for the thoughts and prayers, and the wonderful staff at both St Joseph in Breese and Memorial in Belleville. Dr. Wade has also spent alot of time at Belle-Clair back when he worked for Pete Gardner ambulance service back before he was Dr.Wade alot of good folks have ties to the racing community.
