The 2011 Hell Tour and DIRTcar Summit Modifieds Rolls Into The Highland Speedway June 22

THE 2011 SUMMER NATIONALS ROLLS INTO THE HIGHLAND SPEEDWAY JUNE 22

Highland IL (June 20th, 2011) - The UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Summer Nationals, rolls into the Highland Speedway this Wednesday June 22. Known as the Hell Tour for its torturous schedule, the series attracts some of the biggest drivers in the sport. Names like Jason Feger, Shannon Babb, Ryan Unzicker, Dennis Erb and Brian Shirley will invade the Speedway to compete against Highland Speedway Becker Jeweler Late Model regulars, Chad Zobrist, Randy Korte, Michael Kloos, and Mark Faust.

This year the Summer Nationals tour will be accompanied by the UMP DIRTcar Summit Modifieds, a racing series similar to the series for the Super Late Models. Kenny Wallace, “The Herminator” will be on hand competing in his UMP DIRT Modified. Wallace, the youngest member of the famous St. Louis Wallace racing family, is an avid dirt racer and competes across the country in his Modified when not racing on a national level in one of NASCARS professional divisions or working as an on air personality for cable TV’s Speed Channel.

Also on the schedule for the nights events are the UMP Factory Stocks and the UMP Sport Compacts divisions.

The pit gates open at 3:00pm, the grandstands open at 5:00pm, Qualifying for both the Super Late Models and DIRTcar Modifieds begins at 6:30 and racing begins directly after. Cost for the pits is $35, and general admissions for the Grandstands are $25 and kids under 11 are free with a paid adult.

Information about the Speedway is on the tracks website Highlandspeedway.com. Don’t forget to “Like” the Highland Speedway on Face Book and instant track information can be found by using the tracks text messaging service; text Highland to 91011.

Coming up June 25th besides a regular night of exciting UMP racing, it will be “Christmas In June” mega Bike Give Away. Members of the Speedways Jr fan club will be eligible to win a free bicycle. Membership to the Jr Fan Club is free; simply sign in at the table behind the Grandstand ticket booth upon entering the racetrack.

Weather is sounding good for this event. Go south Mother Nature. You have caused enough problems already with this series.

$25 is a tad steep, especially with all the sponsors Highland has now. I don't have a problem with announcers plugging sponsors here and there throughout the show, because I realize they help pay the bills. But Highland is the only track I've been to where you have to sit and listen to commercials all night. I thought that sponsors were supposed to help cut track costs, which you could in turn pass on to your fan.

Highland is running 4 classes (super lates, modifieds, street stocks, and hornets), Brownstown is running 5 classes (super lates, modifieds, crates, street stocks, and hornets)....and Brownstown is only charging $20.

I realize it takes a lot of work, time, effort, and money to put on a show like this. But in a time when tracks are closing due to an economic downturn, I honestly thought Highland was on point when they went out and got all these sponsors...until I saw the prices hadn't changed. If that track wasn't in my backyard, I wouldn't waste my time.

It's probably on here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to search....do we know who will be there tonight? I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to go or not. Thank ya

pretty sure feger was in the pits early this morning...and i believe matt miller's hauler was at walmart last night...you have to figure most of the hell tour crowd

Think I will save my money for friday night at Tri-City...Im hearing some pretty heavy hitters coming for that one. Can only afford to go to one race this week so I will save my money and go to The Beach friday night.

I'll be there tonight. It looks like it is shaping up to have a good number of LMs there.

Hopefully the crew will be able to get the track in good condition even though Highland had a significant amount of rain yesterday around 5.
