(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace Autosports posted a runner-up finish
last Friday night in the O'Reilly MARS Series opener at the Memphis
Motorsports Park in Memphis, TN. He won his heat in his J&J Steel #88 GRT /
Keith Craft Ford Taurus and that gave him the pole position for the $3,000
to win feature event. Wendell took off from the wave of the green flag and
led the first 25 circuits of the race until Bill Frye took the point away.
Wendell could not regain the point and had to settle for a strong second
place effort. The team was also slated to run the MARS event the following
night at I-30 (AR) Speedway, but that event was postponed due to inclement
weather.

"I was good at Memphis on Friday," said the driver of the #88. "We led the
majority of the laps and then Frye got around us. I went to the high side
after that and I couldn't reel him in and pass him. We were close, but just
couldn't get it done."

Wendell will have three chances this weekend to pick up his first MARS
Series victory of the season, as Wendell will travel to all three shows this
weekend. Friday night's MARS show will be held at the nearby Batesville
Speedway in Locust Grove, AR. The following night, the Martians will invade
the West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO. The weekend finale will
occur Sunday at the Monett Speedway in Monett, MO. All three events will
pay the winner $3,000 to win. For more information about the weekend
