Cheers to all the fans that brought their coats and braved the chilly weather to see their favorite events unfold over the weekend. And especially for bearing the few, last, unfinished construction projects we have going. Everyone will be happy to know that the lighting throughout the front gate area is installed.

A full field of UMP Open Wheel Modifieds drove into the pits in Clarksville on Saturday night. But by the end of the night, some would leave in grief. While working on his Open Wheel #87 and getting it set up for the track, Stan Beadles had a spring go out on his car and it crushed his left hand. Stan has a family to take care of and the injury will keep him away from work and racing for a number of weeks. We'll be passing the hat and taking collections to do what we can to help out this dedicated racer during upcoming events to get him back in the drivers seat, so come on out and contribute.

Clayton Miller brought a flashy skin in his new X15 to finish fourth in the feature. Don Hamstra (23H) came out from Fair Oaks, TN to grab the lead in the feature early on and held it, after Mike Sweeney (25S) brought out a caution going into the second lap of the fifteen lap feature. Brett Wyatt (17), from Crossville set fast time for the Open Wheels with a 13.546-second run. But that didn't keep him in the feature as he fell out at the half way point. Hamstra was followed by Mike Neighbors (711N) and Brian Shaw (1) to top out the opening race that follows intermission.

Ten Late Model drivers brought their machines with their eyes on the prize. Without a single caution during the feature, many-time champion Tony Albright (1) brought home the first place win, along with the fast time 13.078. Vince Grondzki (32) from Fairview Heights, IL started next to Tony, and had steady pressure from Brent Kreke (13) who finally passed him to finish in the second place spot moving through lap traffic. Brent is from Summerfield, just down the road from Vince in Illinois. They gave the crowd what they wanted - first-class racing.

Veteran drivers Wendell Bratton (24), David Miller (K1) and Darren Baxter (11B) had their own show going during the feature. Bratton finishing in the same position he started - fourth, while Miller and Baxter both moved up a couple spots sending James Breeden (711) towards the back of the pack.

Next to the showing of Open Wheels, Street Stock racers came out in strength too. Running from the pill, Don Everett (9), Clarksville, TN, dropped down to third in the feature after his win in the heat put him at the poll. Allen Scott (A10), starting in the second place was one driver that put him there just three laps into the race. The other was John Suiter (177), up from Cunningham, TN, who moved in fast to the second place by lap six starting from way back in the ninth spot. Curtis Breeden (7UP) out of Charlotte, TN, started fourth and finished there while Danny Huff (73) moved up from sixth, one spot to round out the top five by the time the checkered fell. This determined field of street stock racers kept a clean show until Michelle Wilson (27) brought out a caution just as the white flag was being dropped.

In Pro Street, Larry Hamm (11L) is keeping his word that another championship will be under his belt by the end of the year. Both the Hamm brothers brought out their machines to keep PRO Street racing alive. Jeffrey Hamm (J1) started and finished the race in the fifth spot. While Larry gave up the honorary poll to Don Young (41) at the start, Larry still pulled past to take the checkered first. The Barbers are keeping a presence here in Clarksville where Larry Barber Jr (33), Pembroke, KY, came in fourth. Don Young was followed by Jeff Joiner (24), Hopkinsville, KY, who took up third.

Last year's Mini Modified Champ Ronnie Richardson put himself behind the wheel again, started off at the back of the pack, and pulled third place out of the feature. While Floyd Clinard Jr (05) started third to take the win. Floyd knocked out Rick Champagne (28), who started at the poll, and Michael Rittenberry (G3) who started and finished in the second spot. A new face at Clarksville, Kyle Fleming (1F), from Pleasant View, TN, found out how tough the competition really is in the old, clay oval. We hope he keeps his car together to see more action!

A 'new' class for the Speedway is Pure Street Stock. We welcomed Mike Watson (17), Darrell Hartman (70), William Meeks (8M), and Poncho Elder (8) all from Kentucky and hope we get their field to grow!
