The racers will race under almost any conditions; the fans will not set outside under covered grandstands in 100 plus degree heat. The pitgate revenue most times covers the racing pay out, but NO fans in the stands equals NO profit!!!

Why don’t you put your money up to keep the place running????

Donnie and crew has done a great job keeping B/C open, but when the money starts coming out the promoters pocket he has to draw the line.

No one is really bashing BC. Everybody is just a little bummed out. And I do have my twelve dollars to fork out. And I'm thinking you bont know what your talking about, cause if the pit covers all the pay outs then what is in the stands is profit. So what kinda profit are you talking about. I really don't think the pits take in enough so the fans in the stands is what they need to cover what the pits don't make. So if your gonna bash Belleville fans, get your facts right first.

The pit gate doesn't cover the purse. It takes at least 600 or so in the grandstands as well to cover the purse.

It's pretty simple math. Add up TCS's payout (its roughly $15,000)....its listed on their website. Then figure that they have 100 cars in the pits with 3 pit passes per car (on average). Add another 100 pit passes (a generous figure) for walk-ins unassociated with a car.

400 pit passes @$25 = $10,000
600 in the stands @ $12 = $7200

I know you weren't bashing BC. But everyone else needs to remember that BC does not have any other source of income except the pit gate and grandstands. There is very limited income from food sales. They receive absolutely nothing from beer sales, that profit goes directly to the fairgrounds.

Regardless how the $$$ workout, bills are not covered when it’s this hot. I have not missed one night of racing at BC, and can tell you there are not many people in the stands.

Look at I-55 Saturday night, there were about 3 times that amount of people in the stands. At $6 per adult, I’m sure they made more at the gate then on a normal night, and then look at the increase in concessions sales. Promoters everywhere need to start thinking outside the box, to keep the customers coming to their tracks.

You are also missing out on expenses. Track rental, lights, water, insurance, and workers besides the purse have to be paid before anything can be called a profit. Insurance is a big expense. You all are forgetting about these items as well.

Has there been any talk about cutting the purse, NO. That is another thing that will not get cut. Other tracks have done that and that is not fair to the drivers. Mr. Smallwood has made some good points in some other posts. Money coming out of you pocket is not good for the business to survive. Mr. Hoener is doing a great job, but he does not need to lose money to keep the track operating.

I, for another, do not want this race track to close.

Here is an idea to maybe help for next year. Start the season at the end of march then mid season end of june then take july and first half of august off. then return till the end of october. i get the ump points would be ended but many tracks run open comp after ump ends. just an idea

they always have said in the past that high school football takes your fans on friday nights. if that is the case as soon as pevely has there big show in september switch over to saturday nights for rest of second half of season

Don't forget the insurance cost for the track. You pay that yearly whether the track runs or not. I am guessing that comes from Don, not the fair board.
