Thought for the firefighter that got hit at tricity speedway. Tring to put a fire out and got hit.

What happened? Need more details to understand what happened to this person. It was on channel 5, but no information.

Midget caught on fire in engine area and rolled to a stopped in turn one and two. Driver climbed out of the car. Fire was pretty big. The firemen drive up near the track on the infield and stop. The fireman gets out of the truck and grabs a fire bottle out of the back and turns to run across the track. Unfortunately he didn't see the car coming (fairly slow as the caution was out). The driver stood on the brakes and turned the car sideways but couldn't avoid hitting him. The last word I heard was he was alert and talking at the hospital.

This has come so close this year so many times. It almost happened at granite last weekend!!! The flag man in turn 2 almost got hit by a spinning street stock!! At highland this year photobilly almost got ran over. Get them guys out of there or some kind of safty wall for them... Someone is going to get killed if something aint done... JMO

He got out of surgery around 9:00 Saturday morning to fix two broken legs. He also suffered a concussion, but a scan of his brain was negative for any permanent brain damage.

He is expected to be released from the hospital in the next week.

Why didn't they throw the red insted of the yellow if there was a fire sounds like this accident could have been eaisly avoided!

Things happen so fast out there on the track!!The driver was out of the car from my understanding..I dont think anybody needs to be put to blame.. When we go to races as fans, drivers, safty crew and so on,we know that this can happen to any of us!!! Best of luck to the safty guy

yes, it probably could have been easily avoided... in hindsight.. wasnt there, and dont know for sure, but, usually a relatively minor engine fire does not require a red. the driver climbing out under his own power probably was reason enough not to throw a red. there also was no crash. sorry for the firemans injuries, and i gotta believe the midget driver that hit him feels horrible, but it is the safety workers responsibilities to be EXTREMELY AWARE of what is going on around him, and upstream as well. sorry to sound harsh, and they do a great job, and the show couldnt happen without them, but a driver does not expect to see a person dart out in front of them on the track. the fireman could have been so focused on getting to the car, that he didnt even look first. just speculating, of course, but i bet thats what happened.

How about we keep the post as it was intended as an information spot about Adam and not a *****fest about rules that need to be changed or implimented.

I am friends with Adam Cobb and his brother (which is where I am getting my information). As far as an update on Adam, it looks like he should be fine. I know he has atleast 1 broken leg which they did surgery on last night, it is not confirmed he has two broken legs. He had a pretty bad concussion as well. He is at great hospital and Adam should be fine; he is in ICU recovering from surgery. I will update as I have more information.

Thank you for the thoughts Bryan, I am sure the family appreciates all of the thoughts from their friends/family as well as the racing community in their time of need.

Wasnt my intention to upset anyone I just feel for the guy just tring to do his job and thought that it wouldnt have happened under red. But i was not there to see the insident so i guess i cant judge on what I dont know. Anyway we hope he recovers soon and best of luck through the process.

They are by far the best responders out there. Ive needed them a time or 2......and let me say.........wow!!! Thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Hopefully.....he will recover quickly

Adam had another surgery today to apply skin graphs. He is doing well. The thoughts and prayers are appriecated by the family.
