BATESVILLE AR. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series will have time to collectively catch it's breath, and will be right back on the road again this weekend with a triple header of events. First up will be a rare Thursday night event at the Malden Speedway on May 8. This is a make up from two weekends ago and will feature NASCAR driver Ken Schrader.

On Friday, May 9, the series will head on down to the Memphis Motorsports Park, where Schrader will be joined by fellow Winston Cup star Dave Blaney. The weekend will conclude on Saturday, May 10 at the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. Each event will pay the winner $3,000, and guarentee $500 to start.

Terry Phillips of Springfield, Missouri is on a genuine hot streak starting out the 2003 O'Reilly M.A.R.S. season. Phillips has taken 3 events in a row, and four out of the first six. That included both events this past weekend, pushing Phillips past Leslie Essary, and into the point lead.

Leslie Essary of Crane, Missouri, hasn't folded his tent and left however, as he scored a pair of fourth place finishes, and is only six points behind Phillips with the bulk of the season still ahead. Jeff Taylor of Batesville, Arkansas is still in the third position in points, and scored a top five and a top ten over the weekend, keeping himself in contention.

Bill Frye, of Greenbriar, Arkansas is the two time and defending series champion. Frye ran second behind Phillips both nights, not letting Phillips get too far in front. Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas is currently fifth. He scored a top ten on Friday, and was just outside the top ten on Saturday.

Alan Vaughn of Belton, Missouri moved into sixth place in the points over the weekend. Vaughn was out of the top ten on Friday after a broken suspension pitted him early. Vaughn rallied for his first top five of the year on Saturday, however. Vaughn cut his teeth on the ¼ bullrings around Kansas City, and will be heading to a pair of tracks that could be to his liking this weekend.

Jerry Buck of Harviell, Missouri sits in the seventh spot. Buck picked up another top ten over the weekend and continues to do well driving for Steve Rushin. Dewaine Hottinger of Russellville, Arkansas is in eighth in points, and didn't score a top ten over the weekend, but is still solid in the top ten of series points.

Steve Rushin of Poplar Bluff, Missouri rides in 9th spot in the points. Rushin has struggled lately, but ran better on Saturday. Mike Brown, of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma makes his debut in the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. top ten, and picked up a top ten finish at Bolivar Speedway on Friday night.

Charlie Randolph of Muskogee, Oklahoma is just outside of the top ten in series points, but sits atop the Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year standings. Randoph scored a top five on Saturday, further solidifying his rookie of the year points lead.

Mike Bowers of North Little Rock, Arkansas is expected to be on hand this weekend, as well as Shane Essary of Aurora, Missouir. Essary is second in Kuntz rookie points. Joey Mack of Benton, Missouri and Jack Sullivan of Greenbriar, Arkansas are also expected.

Stacy Taylor of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Donnie Barnhart of North Little Rock, Gary Stolba of Willow Springs, Missouri, and David Gibson of Ash Flat, Arkansas are all drivers that could be on hand.
